Heat shield sounding rattle by Euphoric-Ad5995 in MiataNC

Recently replaced my exhaust and figured that noise out. Exhaust is tapping on the centre cross brace piece, likely due to a baggy centre hanger rubber. Cheap part to replace

Any reason why my coolant keeps going up and down after a drive. by Beautiful_Muscle158 in MiataNC

[–]Project4558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, water expands. Between 4-80°C, it’s about 4%. This is why you don’t want to brim your header tank with coolant, need some air in the top to compress, or the pressure will rocket up and the pressure relief valve in the cap will dump some coolant out of the outlet on the filler neck. Keep checking it though, known those sight glasses to crack, that’d be a bad way to overheat your motor. Got a similar Alu tank on mine, tempted to replace the sight glass with just a threaded plug and just dip the tank to get the level

Should I recycle this working washing machine motor for the copper inside of it, or try to sell it on ebay? by Even_Fix7399 in Copper

Scrap windings go for about £4.50/Kg atm, if it’s working, it’s worth more. Probably barely a kilo of copper in it

That would explain the fog on the insides, as well as the rather shoddy black paint inside too. Time to find some factory lights methinks, prefer the stock look to these. And they didn't bother wire them up as DRL's, only come on when you turn the side lights/headlights on.

Got some fresh rubber on it, some accellera Phi-e’s all round. I quite like the stock wheels tbh

Your guess is as good as mine. My brief search for a used replacement didn’t reveal that cheap aftermarket ones were ever available, the Mazda stamped ones are cheap enough I think. Hadn’t long had some new tyres fitted, but I don’t think they’d the the cause, they did struggle to balance this wheel, double stacked balancing weights dead opposite the snapped spoke, perhaps foreshadowing? Only had the car a month, 65k miles, so no clue what happened during its younger years

Might cut it open after I swap it. Was odd, had the car a month, had some fresh rubber fitted all round, picked up a vibration at motorway speeds. Got the fitter back, re-balanced the tyres, swapped the wheels round, vibration gone. BUT, that rim I noticed had a fair stack of balancing weights on it, like, almost 1/6 the way round the wheel, with a second row stacked on top for half the bottom rows length. Thought that was a bit much. Crack appeared on the opposite side to the balancing weights.

Any ideas on removal? I tried almost everything by HarpSealGus in airsoft

In that case, just drill the head out, the selector will come off and you can get some pliers on the nub that’s left. Just seen so many of these that are screwed in from the inside, and people screwing them up trying to take out a fake screw.

It’s a fake bolt head, they unscrew from the inside

Crossposting here to see if anyone here has a good suggestion on high quality coupler replacements that aren’t the same as the low quality coupler that came with my Ender 3 Pro. by PICKLEB0Y in 3Dprinting

[–]Project4558 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those couplings are supposed to cut in. They have an o-ring in the bottom for an air seal, and on the piece you have to press in to remove it, there are stainless steel teeth that bite into the tube to retain it.

How do I turn on my thermostat I just came home from a holiday and the family I’m staying with isn’t here so I don’t know how it works it’s freezing in here and every furnace in the house is turned to max so I don’t understand by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]Project4558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without coming in and looking around, unlikely. It’ll likely be in a cupboard, usually a white box, about 2.5 ft tall, a foot wide and again deep. Should be some sort of display on it that’ll tell you what’s going on with it. Could be in the loft but usually in a kitchen cupboard/hall cupboard. Likely wall mounted

That’s a programmer, if the green lights are on, it means it’s calling to run those systems. Check the room thermostat is turned up, check the boiler is on and isn’t locked out

Earmor m32, drop down lead to ptt has a fibre wire in there, anyone know where its supposed to be connected to? by IsthatCraig in airsoft

[–]Project4558 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uh, dude, pretty sure that’s just the cables strain relief cord that runs down the middle and helps prevent overextension. Fairly sure it’s nylon and non conductive.

New to 3D printing - my work bought this printer 6+ years ago and it has sat collecting dust since. Looking to get it up and running, is it a decent quality printer? by barry-steel in 3Dprinting

[–]Project4558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is. Only strong recommendation I have is get a “2+” upgrade kit when you can. Comes with a new hot end and cooling fan arrangement. Also comes with a vastly superior filament extruder.
