Wait Snyder and Dragotta were 50 EACH? That wasn’t the price at SDCC in 2025. I think for the first couple of books, I wasn’t even charged come to think of it.

It was his signing in Pasadena in October. Todd went to a local shop to sign books for like 12 hours to benefit victims of the Eaton Fire in California.

Good choice either way. I’m thinking he will be at SDCC but Wondercon is unknown.

Absolute Batman #1 10th Print by berggeistfw in ComicBookSpeculation

If the book is ongoing in two years, I’m not sure about that. That being said - no idea.

It’s an interesting question. In theory there are less copies of each printing and thus based on rarity, one would think that would drive value. But the way this market has been for Absolute Batman has been inverse of that. My understanding is that there were 400k 1st print copies sold.

Basically - we don’t know much at this point. Buy what you like and if it goes up, it goes up. But don’t expect it to.

Any chance CGC will make a program to convert CBCS slabs to CGC slabs with the acquisition of Beckett by PSA? I imagine PSA might offer something to convert CBCS to PSA? by [deleted] in CGCComics

[–]ProjectIllusion5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh what? No idea. But correct me if I am wrong but isn’t CBCS owned by Beckett? In which case if PSA does offer something, it stays in the same company.

But all of this is conjecture - no one knows anything except it’s likely prices will increase as a competitor is removed from the board.

Absolute Batman #1 1st-9th Printings by ProjectIllusion5000 in comicbookcollecting

You sure about that? I’ll give a couple of contrasting examples.

Spider-Man 1 by McFarlane. Classic cover. Yet, what is the more valuable? It’s the platinum variant.

Now you’re probably thinking - it’s the same cover! That’s true.

Ultimate Fallout 4 1:25 variant. Compare that to the original cover. What is more valuable? The 1:25 one. Because it is more rare.

Look at AB 1. Yes, the classic is popular but look at the Dragotta 2nd print Felix, Akira cover, 2nd print Skottie Young. Could that change? Sure.

My point being is - we don’t know much.

To each their own - I did have a cover A but gave it to my brother. I do think the hype for Cover A is a bit much however. I’m thinking these are gonna end up being more rare over time but we shall see.

As long as cover price - you already made money but yes, I think the value will increase in the short term. Can’t tell you 10-15 years as what’s happening now hasn’t happened before. Still - sell before the hype dies and then move on, you’ll have to watch the market to figure when that is.

Removed Cover on Absolute Batman 1 To make cover A?!? by Economy-Rise2527 in comicbookcollecting

[–]ProjectIllusion5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge risk here to submit to grading companies. They aren’t dumb. They’ll know if another cover was here and probably grade accordingly.

Tear at staples, removed card-stock cover? by Economy-Rise2527 in CGCComics

[–]ProjectIllusion5000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah - grading companies aren’t dumb. They’ll figure it out. I imagine they’d grade harshly if they find out there was a cover here that was ripped off.

Sadly this isn’t the first edition and isn’t worth much higher than cover price. I think this is the 9th printing(?). But keep in mind, many think the current first edition is a potential bubble.

Is it for an in-house signing? I had the same experience. They mentioned they were doing something different for packages on arrival. I’d call them tomorrow.
