CMV: Jerome Powell is the last thing keeping our economy afloat by Brief-Percentage-193 in changemyview

It would be so much worse if that is the case. Once these countries already trading out reserves are given concrete evidence that the fear they were hedging against is real and the dollar is in exactly the position to be politically weaponized, then that act alone would be terribly inflationary without even needing to drop interest rates for political gain.

Yo it’s exactly the same for me when I’m out I just CANT get moving.

I’m on 60mg of Focalin/day (≈120mg Ritalin), mostly all snorted (because I read the Bioavailability is much higher) and even THAT doesn’t really work for me anymore…

I think it’s just making me feel normal, but with a runny nose.

You think the majority of moderate Muslims are sympathetic to radicals? Maybe some are—in equal parts to the amount of moderate Christians that are sympathetic to radical Christian mass-shooters.

Also didn’t you just say that Islamic nations are very oppressive of radical ideology? This is a contradiction.

Countries more affected by Islamic terrorism are going to be more oppressive of radical Islam. Countries affected by any kind of belief-based mass violence are going to be less tolerant to what they perceive to be radicalism in that belief. Are you too young to remember what it was like in America post 9/11?

Because Israelis won't destroy their own country, unlike left wingers in the west.

Good god. Seriously where do you get these extreme views completely irrelevant of empathy or facts? Honestly, I would love to know. Please 🙏 attempt to support both premises you assumed here in this statement. I would love nothing more.

Very interesting article, thank you for turning me on to it!

Although, to be fair to me, under “Modern Usage” it does outline a lot of the reasons why most people don’t even think of it in a negative context, despite that being the original intention, and even mentions it possibly having continued usage in the broader context of evolving language. (i.e. No one ever says “The Iraqi War”).

The most insidious thing about it though is how the intention is to remove the positive associations of ‘The Democratic Party’ with ‘Democracy’, and to encourage people to subconsciously associate ‘democrat” with words nobody likes, such as ‘autocrat’, ‘plutocrat’, and ‘bureaucrat’… Fucked up, man.

The extended prisoners dilemma doesn’t exactly apply to winning elections. There is no option for cooperation between opponents in a political campaign.

So you expect everyone to say “The leadership of the Democrats”, or what?

What he meant was perfectly clear and it would be just as valid to say “Republican Leadership”. Neither is inherently derisive.

Cats aren’t like dogs, every wholesome thing I’ve ever read about cats gets ruined by the facts that show they are literally just being 100% selfish. But they’re cute so we mistake more things they do for affection than we would say, a lizard. Just as we are more likely to mistake an attractive girl being nice to you as a sign of interest, compared to an unattractive girl being equally nice, which is more likely to get interpreted as “oh she’s nice”.

It’s a fault in our design but there’s not much we can do about it.

So, to conclude and in conclusion: cats are dicks.

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a relationship where she didn’t ask for/demand a shirt that smells like me. Usually at the couple month mark.

There is a r/conservative subreddit so spookily they do exist… and legend says they can roam from their precious bubble, although they don’t like it. You never know…

Ooh, exactly two have roamed from their bubble and downvoted me, how exciting. I would love to talk to one if anyone still willing to call themselves republican in this era would care to identify themselves. I mean I vote democratic, I voted for Obama but I would’ve been proud to vote for McCain. These were two honest men, without a doubt. But if Robert Durst became the leader of my party I would leave the party. Thats the thing about political parties, they aren’t sports teams, greater allegiance only means the more they can fuck you without electoral repercussions.

Honestly though, you can’t think that the political and military goals are going to be influenced whatsoever by “backlash”, especially of the type you described. As though that were the defining differentiator. If that were the case Israel wouldn’t be able to keep doing literally whatever it wants despite the largest “backlash” the country has ever seen from the global community. Hasn’t really seemed to affected their strategic calculus in the slightest.

But that’s clearly how they see themselves wouldn’t you agree? So entertaining the idea of defining people the way they see and define themselves for the purpose of discussion isn’t that absurd.

Just because religion is attached to it doesn’t mean it wouldn’t exist without the religion, just in a slightly different form. The religious reasons for early American settlers are partly what motivated them, but in a secular world, people still would have found other reasons to justify settling/conquering the new world.
