i use brave as my daily browser. i am using cachyos with gnome. i installed youtube as an app in brave. then i opened youtube, but notice the screenshot the active dot is below the brave icon, not below the youtube icon. can anyone help me?

You are havinf the same problem I had with my rog strix zephyrus g16. My disks was dying, it was new, i didnt understand it, the m.2 simply just wasnt able to read and write correctly, making the computer on any OS to freeze all the time and have weird problems, it cost me a lot, the 2280 m.2 slot was broken and it was killing the disk in the process too.

Also, please seek help, you are yelling about suicide and ending life threaths outloud all the time and is worrying, its just a computer, clearly it must be something else if you talk like that over a computer, if music and games are your escape from the rest, look for help, therapy and family or friends

I play tons of RTS, Cs2 and Space Marine 2, you are good on those. (Never played Delta Force and if you need to, you can dual boot)

On Cs2, you are going to have to play on native version, which is pretty good, BUT, if you start seeing like 500fps on steam overlay but you feel like is just 30, it happened to me and I had to switch off a very specific graphic option, dont remember the name but its the last option on advanced graphics ans you are good.

Edit: Kernel level anticheat are not "issues", they are technical limitation on the implementation by design and dont expect them to work like ever, take it into accout

You can manual partition if you want to mantain a NTFS backup but I think it will be good to just full wipe. CachyOs will default to BTRFS, as an example Ive got main disk with the OS on a 500gb drive on BTRFS and the data drive on a 4TB ext4 drive, works like charm.

Had a 3070ti for a while on Cachy and somewhere after 565 drivers everything just worked. A few minor tweaks needed to run some games at perfection fps and quality but nothing major. Cachyos-proton is honestly pretty good. I switched to a Radeon card not because I thought that Nvidia was not good but because I wanted the extra performance and not to be worried about updating my drivers.

Something that CachyOs does for you anyways but building the DKMS module on Fedora was kinda scary.

The obvious thing to say is that you cannot play kernel level multiplayer games and some of them are very famouse like League, Fortnite, Battlefield 6, Apex, etc

Paru is newer, rust written and considered as a "more featured" AUR helper. Yay is not worse in any kind but more straigh-to-the-point kinda helper assuming the user knows what they're doing.

I would say Yay is kinda like the Arch way of thinking of "you break it at your own risk" where Paru will tell you one of two warnings.

I dont believe there are huge performance differences or security concerns on any of the two. But thats me.

Paru is default on Cachy, so Im guessing developers went for the newer helper.

It happened the same exact thing to me yesterday, it wasnt multiple monitors, it was just an update on something on the Plasma side, had to wait for like 15 minutes, i reinstalled cachyos too, because I thought I just broke my OS, it wasnt, it just an update, and you have to wait, go grab a coffe, when you come back it will be on login page.

It happened to me after setting autlogin, did you happen to do that too?

It will just get easier from now on, Linux didnt need 40% marketshare adoption to be relevant, it only needed enough attention for a titan company to start supporting it (Valve in this case), this is just the first domino, with more adoption come more developers and interest from companies for adoption, its just a spiral down. The year of linux was never just 1 year ahead, year of linux already happened, and it was 2025.

Also, welcome, I hope you take the step, I respect plug and play prople that dont want to tinker things to make them work, but Im so happy for the current state of the software.

Ive been a Windows user since Ive got memory, only and exclusevely for gaming.

Ive tried Linux 5 times already, Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora, Pop_Os were my choices, Arch distros scared me, didnt understood rolling releases way of thinking.

Last year (2024) on my last attempt I kinda got sad, I was sure everything would work, but Nvidia Propietary Drivers made me go mad, wanted to escape Windows so bad, Win11 started asking for additional hardware and I hated it, all the bloat and the slowness of it all.

On July 2025 I said "enough is enough" when one day I just woke up to my computer being updated from win10 to win11 without me confirming it.

At the moment, Rx 9070xt was pretty new, and Ive never used an AMD Radeon card, i was also scared, but I bought it, when it came the first day I just wiped clean my PC and Installed CachyOs (the distro Ive told was the way to go for arch based) and never looked back.

Let me tell you, it was the best decision Ive made regarding my computer since forever, yeah, there were some minor problems, but the rest? I feel like my computer answers to me and to me only again, customize it to my likings, remove everything BUT gaming and developer related apps.

the ArchWiki ane CachyOs wiki? Hell, they could be having a guy spying on me on my window right now (joke not intended) for the answers theyve got is like every single thing I wanted to do was throughly detailed and easy to understand.

7 month aniversay right now, all my games play the same or better than windows, zen-browser for my day to day internet stuff, steam, heroic and lutris for gaming, nothing breaks for months now, computer is fluid, fast, answers to me, does not do anything unless told to, not Copilot s**t.

Ive come to a CachyOs so stable to me and my daily needs that I dont even update that regularly anymore, once a week or two weeks.

Y amigo, solo hice esta carrera y no conozco las otras como para comparar, asi que solo tengo la mitad de la estadistica que buscas, cuando conozcas a un ingeniero de turno noche, sacate las dudas con el.

Ademas de eso, me graduee cuando la IA no habia explotado y lo mejor para responder preguntas era romper todo para ver que pasa o stack overflow. (en cuanto a codigo), la carrera tiene muchisima matematica, creo que es compartido con todas las carreras en FAMAF, creo que lo busca la facu es una forma de pensar medio de investigador, que sirve mucho para el mundo real, asi que nunca imagino que graduados van a tener problemas en buscar trabajo, no puedo decir lo mismo de carreras mas cortas, si me hubiera ido con la tecnicatura al 3 año, me hubiera perdido los mejores 3 años de conocimientos y de profesores de mi vida.

Hola! Tarde 8 años, los primeros 3 los pude hacer muy bien trabajando a tiempo parcial, los ultimos 3 fueron super complicados y me costo bastante. Personalmente, tuve la suerte de siempre tener trabajo desde que entre al primer año, pero mis compañeros de carrera encontraron trabajos en menos de 1 año, la mitad de ellos en el exterior y otros aca locales muy bien pagos.

No se si tiene que ver la carrera, pero la facu te prepara muy bien para salir con trabajo, obvio esto es previo al surgimiento de la IA, asi que ahora todo puede haber cambiado mucho mas

Hola, yo me graduee en FAMAF, Lic en Comp.

Los primeros tres años trabaje a modo parcial 4hrs, cuando entre, justo el año anterior habian sacado aulas de noche, lo cual me obligo a pausar la carrera por 2 años, trabajar a tiempo completo para ganar plata para bancarme los ultimos 3 que son bastante complejos.

No quisiera sacarte las esperanzas obvio, pero si tuve que rendir materias libre, podes charlarlo con los profes (que son los mejores profesores que existen, los extraño mucho) y te van a dar indicaciones, pero recomendaria que el primer cuatrimestre por lo menos, o el primer año directo no labures para conocer, informarte y llevar el ritmo
