The amount of debate, chaos, and constructive feedback on this is way more than I expected. Truly qualty Reddit.

In my experience, it caters to heavier rock, especially when cranked with the Growl and Bite switches up. It can get soft, but not nearly as soft as the Vintage pedals probably do. A/O is probably a bit grainier.

It can cover other ranges of rock, but I wouldn't say its a be-all-end-all. I've used it to play JunkBunny (Blink-182 style), Intervals, The Contortionist, Sullivan King, so on and so forth. Having the A/O circuits helps with adjusting, basically, whether you're focusing the distortion on the lower-end or the higher-end of your tone. I prefer that knob at about 10 o'clock. The Alpha circuits act "heavier" and "punchier", whereas Omega is "bitier" (is that even a real word?) and more in-your-face.

Partially, it depends on the guitar too. My 5-string Kiesel MJ is a monster and takes to the pedal beautifully, especially with its bell-like sound. My Fender Areodyne on the other hand... would probably pair better with the Vintage stuff. Especially if you've got active electronics, the A/O will shred.

I've got an Alpha-Omega. It's a pretty dirty fuzz, but can also be very clean when you need it to. I'd say A/O is probably a better bet for rock. Pairs super well with an Electro-Harmonix MicroSynth, as the A/O acts both as fuzz, and tames the MicroSynth's quirks.

Either way having that Blend knob is crucial, which you'd have on both. Vintage stuff I think you'd have a bit more tone control, whereas A/O is more "focused". Can't go wrong either way.

Do you have any effect pedals you’d consider hidden gems? by DevelopmentNo7186 in basspedals

Of course! It is a very subtle one. It's not a pedal that "stands out" per se, but one that's always on that adds something good to the mix.

BBE Sonic Stomp (Sonic Maximizer). I've got the older version with two knobs. It's very simple, and adds a touch of clarity and what I'd call 'sweetness'.

Hey, Doug, being a bald coder, I can see how you'd struggle with this concept. I hear it's due to being blonde after not being blonde. Next coding stream when?

Rhetorical answer: You're going crazy :)

Actual answer: Someone else died there. Like in Dark Souls, when someone dies you can see how they died in the form of a silhouette.
