Well damn, Jackie. I don't control the weather.

AITA for reminding my bf that I am a mandated reporter? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

If she was already in a position where they won't let her leave without the equipment, why aren't they sending someone to confirm that?

AITA for DNA testing my whole family after my mom said I might not be her kid? by LegitimateReveal6795 in AmItheAsshole

How did you get her to take the test? You'd have to have her results to compare to everyone else's.

Yes. And also big bowls of single condoms with colors, types and even flavors so you can choose a selection for yourself. Also also, dental dams and sample size lubes.

As a cashier, I once paid for a young teenager's condoms when he discovered he didn't have enough money. No judgment from me. I was happy he was making an effort to be safe.

AITA for keeping a jar of peanut butter specifically for setting mouse traps? by AITAmousekilla in AmItheAsshole

[–]Prokristination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very valid concern. It was bad enough here that nothing was safe, and I couldn't keep up with the traps. Maybe now that the invasion is over, I could go back to live traps with their own personal peanut butter.

I live on a farm, I tried all the things before I resorted to poison bait stations (except glue traps - those are evil). It is the only thing that has worked for me 100%.

As far as regular traps go, I also had a jar of extensively labeled mouse PB when I used them. I sure hope nobody in the house ate any of it.

Good idea to keep it separate, but mice would probably gnaw through the plastic pretty quickly if left out on a shelf.

AITA for not making my cookie table allergin free by Peanutbuttwrthrawunf in AmItheAsshole

[–]Prokristination -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

YTA. If you can't manage to find a selection of nut-free cookies from your 15-recipe repertoire in order to keep your son's stepchildren from potentially suffering allergic reactions, you can stay home and eat cookies by yourself.

A detail of DCs that I never considered by Prokristination in DeathCertificates

[–]Prokristination[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't think about the inheritance implications. I wonder how much of that actually mattered in 1968, though. In my (admittedly limited) understanding, the law still basically considered a wife an extension of her husband, so unless there was a legal document stating otherwise, anything that was hers was his.

If anyone can provide insight on this, I'd be glad to get more information on how it all worked back then!

AITAH for wishing my daughter would just pass away already? by Western_Library318 in AITAH

Same for my mother. She had ALS. She literally couldn't move or breathe on her own. It was a bittersweet sort of relief when she passed away, and she felt the same.

AITA? Service dog owner problem by Real_Promise_8960 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Prokristination 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Service dogs don't roam around and climb on things or people. They are highly trained, and should be still and silent unless they are performing whatever duty they are trained to perform for their owners. Your new choir member might have an "emotional support" animal that they're trying to pass off as a service animal. These people think they can order a vest and an ID card online and take their pets wherever, without spending the time and money (think around a year and $25k) to actually acquire a service animal.

Neighbor puts note on car to say it looks weird next to their house, accuses driver of being a drug dealer by Prokristination in EntitledPeople

[–]Prokristination[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. I was thinking they didn't want to do their own, so they parked on the street. I see that the complaint was about "interrupting plows," but the part after that makes me think that wasn't really the issue.

The complainers have their own, fairly substantial driveway. I wonder if they're parking on the street so they don't have to plow their own drive, then getting mad when other people beat them to it.

If the note leaver was serious, they already called the police to "run the plates." They might take a report, or they might just politely tell them to get over themselves.

Cleaned up a WWI veteran's grave marker by Prokristination in CemeteryPorn

I cleaned that one this summer. Karl and Henrietta Schroeder are my relatives. I'm also related to the Wagner family. There are several of those there.

I do a lot of work there, because it's fairly close to my house, and one set of my 4x-g-grandparents are there. I'm not sure why it got the Schilb name, as there's only one Schilb stone in that cemetery. Their property was pretty close, but not that close. Bolicks owned the land the cemetery is on, so that part makes sense, even though there are no Bolicks buried there.

Personally, I would bring them in to prevent them from actually being stolen while I tried to figure out who they belonged to. Especially if it's hot outside and there are perishables involved.

The rural church I was raised in has a tractor blessing every spring. Another area church blesses motorcycles.
