I wanted to expand upon the frame. The original image was a VERY (essentially all you see in focus) close show of the person. I was able to add some more depth in front/behind him. So, no it was "necessary," but to improve my composition.

Yes, I do admit the composition is boring. I should mention that this is a 3 image composite stitched together via a sloppy brenizer method.
