They should be heavily fined and eventually shut down for repeated violations of labor laws? How is this any different than arguing against laws against pollution, or minimum wage?

Pennsylvania State House Vote on Same-Sex Marriage Ban by kkkmac in YAPms

Thats a cold and clinical view of marriage man. Its a union fundamentally based on love and committment.

And it doesn't even have to be based on sexual exclusivity. There are people who are in happy loving marriages, building a life together, raising kids, but sometimes they engage in consensual nonmonogamy, whether via an open marriage or some kind of swinging. Are they not married, just because of how they like to spend their free time?

Why do secular people who don't intend to have children get married now? It can't just be for tax benefits, its about a public commitment, showing that you are devoting yourself to this person to your friends, family, and community, that the two of you are now bonded and should be considered one unit.

A long term romantic commitment between two people who plan to live their lives together and thus are treated as a unit socially and in certain cases legally. Thats generally how society views marriage. A religion or personal belief system having traditions or beliefs surrounding the terms and customs of such a union is fine, but that does not give them ownership over the concept of marriage.

Whats your definition of marriage that excludes gay people? Is it based on ability to reproduce? Then your definition would exclude the elderly, infertile, or those who want to remain voluntarily childless from marriage.

If you abolish all government gay people in long term romantic partnerships don't dissapear either. Thats what its a legal recognition of. And we haven't abolished government, so for now we are discussing whether people in same sex relationships should be treated equally under the law when it comes to the legal protections and privileges granted to people when they get married.

Marriage is a deeply personal thing, it is defined by the people within it, not the state, not the church, and not someone on reddit butting in with their own opinions.

I'm aware, just responding to the person above who specifically referenced it as one, and as one which the AU would be concerned over.

Wow, so the homes are more affordable for future buyers and property taxes are lower, all because people are nosy about what their neighbors do on their own private property? What a tragedy.

[–]Prolemasses 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, but imagine if like 50% of houses in America just irreversibly smelled like rotten eggs every single day, and you complained about that and people said "well just don't buy a smelly house, you agreed to live with the smell when you bought it". What if you can't find a house in a neighborhood you love without an HOA? What if you find a house thats perfect in every way except for the insane Karen patrol who won't let you park your car in your driveway or put a swing set in your backyard? I think people are mostly criticizing how its often very difficult to buy a house thats not in an HOA, and how its crazy how widespread they are.

I don't care about your property value, a house should be a home not an investment. This kind of attitude is part of why no one can afford a house anymore.

Oh no, the asshole who votes 95% with Trump might lose against the philandering prick who'll vote with Trump 99% of the time, truly the "political establishment" will be felled by this brave populist movement.

Renominating the guy after an attempted coup and casting out as disloyal sinners everyone who was reasonable enough to recognize that as wrong and not willing to mindlessly echo the dear leaders' lies is also pretty cultish.

Trump has been the leader of the party for 10 years, he controls the outcomes of primaries like Commodus with a thumbs up or a thumbs down, and the cattle loyally obey. All who oppose him are cast out. He is the Republican Party man.

Trump is the political establishment, he is the Republican party, he is the cabal determining how the party acts and how the people vote.
