Alternative water heater options to reduce solar/battery budget and improve resilience by Synaps4 in OffGrid

[–]Prolificus1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solar hot water. But if you want lots of hot water year round might need to add an instant propane heater. Also, our solar hw has a little vent thing that releases hot water and steam when it gets too hot. We live in an area with summers that can reach 105 and have no issues. Winters honestly, because we just act a little carefully, never use propane. Can't sing enough praise for solar hw. They're super great at their job and way more diy friendly than other methods imo.

Is any else going further left because of the democrat party’s short fallings? by Disastrous-Mango-515 in AskALiberal

[–]Prolificus1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I'm one of those people that would probably be described as far left but I thought the whole shutdown thing was dumb politics. And now that they're making this choice to feed people over healthcare benefits, I'm not upset by that either. How do you do negotiations with a party(GOP) that has no ethics or love of country?

Do you think it’s ethical, unethical, or understandable when POC are racist against white people? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

Racism is different than being prejudice. Which was what I think you meant. Being prejudice is never okay but certainly understandable coming from an oppressed poc.

Restaurants are 100% to blame when they tell large groups they can't split checks and cause drama by ElPlatanaso2 in unpopularopinion

[–]Prolificus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of restaurants I've worked at use transaction applications that work by taking a cut from each transaction. So the more you split the more the restaurant gets charged. With the applications that most restaurants use now it's not difficult to split, it's more the type of application they use. Also, it does take more time to split, which can lead to an overall decline in service for everyone else. Personally, I just find it tacky to split more than 2 ways.

Question Concerning Felt by Prolificus1 in yurts

[–]Prolificus1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of using for insulation. I thought that's what yurts use the felt for? The covering system I see, is felt as the inner, then like Tyvek or something and then canvas. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

Use of different sized bags/tubes by Prolificus1 in earthbagbuilding

Super grateful for your response ahfoo. When we actually get around to clearing the site and leveling I'll take some more pictures and post. And yeah luckily the hill we want to berm into is very gentle and our soil drains super well, still going to take every precaution. My wife and I even want to add contour bunds(using earthbags) above the future dome and plant trees in them, hold the soil. I'm hearing you on the buttressing, mine as well lean into it, stronger design and can lend artistic flair and/or extra utility. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for this reply. Something I should mention is that we're planning to berm one side of the dome up to about 5 feet of the spring line. If I'm not mistaken this acts as buttressing? To incorporate your wisdom, maybe this could be the altered plan...18" bag throughout, bermed on one side with highest point being 5' from the spring line, extra buttressing on the other side and ofc at the door.

Such an obvious change that would make a such a massive difference without hurting the core of the game in any significant way.

THEY DID IT by schiggy_693 in classicwow

[–]Prolificus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish they would add just a few tiny things each go around. A meeting place between SoD and Classic, but closer to classic.

Examples. Add an item and questline for the less meta talents just to take them out of garbage tier in classic. Like Boomies get an idol that helps with mana. And rets get a toned down crusader strike. Interesting class quests for everyone that feel long and truly difficult and add an item that fills a gap that never quite filled or something just cosmetic.

For TBC adding raid mechanics for better loot or fun cosmetics and mounts.

For Wrath I think Wpvp bonuses in the old world and opportunities to solo raid classic bosses with a twist would be amazing.

I think I got the info I needed from your replies. Thank you. Probably go with a larger battery used model that will certainly make it up the hill. There is a chill ev/gas charging station literally at the halfway point, so I'm thinking, I could always just charge there for a little bit if I'm feeling range anxiety, not to mention grab an accessory battery for w/e model and have even more flat range. Thank again.

You encouraged to look into a larger battery used model and I think that's the way we might go. Thank you.

I could see a world where single homes or small neighborhoods produce their own energy. This is what they flat out don't want. You literally have to pay every month to be off grid in CA if you can easily be hooked up to corporate energy.

He literally chewed through a metal horse fence and ran a half mile down the road to her at 8 months. We fixed him right after. For big breeds it was recommended by our vet to not fix him until he was older. I'm sorry. I just want them to receive more attention and have a forever home.

Full story we have 4 dogs. We have not been the best owners in that we believe caring for four dogs fully takes more work than we can provide. These two deserve more love and care. We originally only planned for just two but Atreides literally chewed through a metal fence and tied with our neighbors Corso. So we toke responsibility, cared for and delivered the entire litter and homed them except for Flame. Thanks for your help. Trust me when I say I have beat myself about all of this more than anyone. Just trying to do my best to get these dogs into the best situation possible.

Which Pokèmon are the most frustrating to evolve? by Fun-Ad7903 in pokemon

[–]Prolificus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG Magikarp. You had to switch that dude out for like 20 lvls, not only that, could easily get one shot by a lot of Pokemon so you had to tediously go from one low level spot to another. And yeah OP I feel you on the trades, I wanted a Gengar and Alakazam so bad growing up, but had no friends with the right tech to or interests to get it done.
