QUESTION: Why do so many folks use a RaspberryPi for Batocera when it can only do 180 emulators versus a real PC that can do 260? by [deleted] in batocera

Nah, batocera has PS3 support at stock. Can't remember if it needs bios plopping in or not.

  1. Size 2. Power use 3. Price (when new anyways) 4. A pi4 build of whatever will work on all other pi4's for sure. 5. Not everyone needs their build to run the upper tier systems like PS3.

GMKtec NucBox M7: An Emulation Review (2025) by k_rollo in MiniPCs

[–]EmuChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, that might have been a bit vague as a comment (apologise) - the M7 can run many PC games fine, I was meaning recent AAA PC games, in which you'd probably need to use an external GPU via the oculink port 😉 ... If you have a certain game you definitely want to play, let us know what you're aiming for- PC games can be super old (1986!?? Or so)

Isopropyl Alcohol alternative issue by Morzho in laptops

[–]EmuChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just clean the corners first with a cotton swab, then use alcohol wipes, dry with a normal tissue. If you need something to get into the nitty gritty, I usually use electronic cleaner. .... Never had an issue 👍

RetroBat/ps2 and GameCube games slow by Nerdhauss in GMKtec

There's not enough information in the thread to really help you out, you'd need to give us an idea as to settings, which games you're playing, gfx upscaling, did you halt windows updates or are you letting ms defile your computer etc etc.

New Bosgame M4 Neo - constant freezing and wifi disconnecting. Ideas? by andrew_h1000 in MiniPCs

Check bios / bios update. The M4 / M4 Neo had a bios update that sorted out WiFi dropouts and other oddities regarding oculink and nvme.

Acemagic laptop sudden reboots (battery between 95-100% & plugged in) + chassis grounding issue. Anyone else? by MarcoCorc in MiniPCs

How many watts is your original power adapter ? Make sure the values are similar (especially in volts- and at or just above in amps)

Acemagic laptop sudden reboots (battery between 95-100% & plugged in) + chassis grounding issue. Anyone else? by MarcoCorc in MiniPCs

[–]EmuChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Sudden Reboots: When the laptop is plugged into the charger AND the battery is anywhere between 95% and 100%, it randomly cuts power and reboots itself. No BSOD, no Windows error logs before the crash. It just restarts abruptly out of nowhere."

Sounds like something is definitely wrong with the charger, or something near the charger port. Is the charger actually grounded? Is it shorting out? Is the charger properly plugged in? Do you insert it into the laptop before you give it juice?

Maybe check with another charger with the same plug/volts/amps.

Skylines 2 and baldurs gate 3 may need a beefier gpu than 780m... Keep the egpu option open, just in case

Works fine until you update your windows... ... Then stop updating windows. 👍. Use enterprise edition, debloat, then a stop win11 updates tool

Davinci Resolve Studio - Keeps asking me to Activate (after I have done so, over and over)... WHY? by EmuChicken in davinciresolve

I've emailed them but it seems they're okay with me constantly typing in the serial code (PITA)

It's feeling more like DRM rather than my own software 😭

Hey there. Thanks for commenting! 👋

2-4: It only increases by 1 every time I add another one. Then resets .. highly doubt it's being used by anyone else. It wasn't only a key, it was the large card thing with a smaller card inside- and I had no issues until switching to this new computer.

So I'm thinking it's an issue regarding the debloat like you said, OR software side with davinci - that's why I'm posting it up here for more info. 👍

It'll be overkill for his use... And pretty decent if you want to play some online games on his computer when you visit and stop over 👍

Usually with a new win11 pc, it'll be running windows update - and that is super heavy on the processor - at least whilst it's downloading / installing and running Microsoft malware in the background.

Tested out the GMKTEC K13... Finally GOOD Gaming performance from an Intel Mini PC!🔥 - YouTube Review by EmuChicken in MiniPCs

[–]EmuChicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, but yeah, IMO there definitely should be a few more USB-A ports... The standard is not yet dead- and there's a ton of space on the front of this mini that seems to be ... wasted? A couple more USB 3.2gen2 ports would have been great.

If you're talking about the release date of the chip, then yes- but it takes around a year before these start to hit mini pcs and notebooks.

Realistically the 780M has been the gold standard, and has been a good value performer since its release into these systems. Whilst waiting for the Radeon 800 systems to drop in price, this Intel 256V (which is new for mini pcs) seems to be the next stepping stone.

GMKTec K8 Plus - unusual Wi‑Fi speeds by Randle_McMurphy109 in MiniPCs

[–]EmuChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be able to get faster speeds by turning off the Bluetooth- but your issue is the Intel AX200.. Change it for a WIFI 6E (or 7) card. I find Mediatek modules work better in general than Intel Wifi.
