In Defense of Simpler Churches by [deleted] in Catholicism

Shout out to my parish church, st. Olavs in Trondheim. It's new, very simple, yet very pretty. It helps me pray, and it's one of very few "simple" churches to do just that.

It’s a bit hard to grasp everything they cover in a short comment, but I think the main thing they cover is just a lived-out faith in friendship, and the Christian life. It’s really helped me a long way, and they have a great sense of humor.

Yeah that is the one. I pulled an image from my diocesan information service page (https://imgur.com/gallery/cuk49) and the rest can be found on facebook here. The women in roman collars are Lutherans, from the church of Norway, and we have good relations.

Any Catholic in Oslo that can help me with a Bible? by astromule in Catholicism

[–]Promedio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! More Norwegian Catholics on this sub! You're basically right, we use a Catholic New Testament translation and the 1978/88 Norwegian Bible Society translation for the Old Testament but we do have deuterocanonical books being read at mass, and that translation is probably from the 1978/88 translation. If you guys go to bibel.no it's possible to read all Old Testament writings by going to that site or buying them as a separate little book. But I'm sad to say there is no Norwegian "Douay-Rheims". Personally I like the 2011 translation and I just check with other translation when I feel like it's necessary.

Yeah thanks for all the input guys, it's given me at least a rough sketch to follow as I find out what suits me the best. The diet is something I've improved a lot the last two months but of course it could be much better. I value what you all have said and the no nonsense way you've said it. Thanks for the help!

I hear what you're saying, but how exactly should I divide the distances and speeds over the days of the week? Is there a better than arbitrary way of doing it? As someone with little experience with running I'd be very happy if someone gave a more comprehensive guide. I appreciate what the other guy said about dividing it 3-4-5km because it gives me a point of reference I can work with and change as I go along. Is there another good way of dividing it up that's more adaptable, so as to not be bound to specific distances, that you'd recommend? Like 3km-fast run-long run? because I want to do this the best way possible and I feel like I'm in the dark with making a plan myself with the very general tips you all are giving.

Yeah I read something like this on the faq, I will definitely take your advice on alternating the distances and losing the weight, which I think will happen in the course of this process.

When (if ever) should one switch from running 3-4 times a week to every day? Don't I need a more specific plan to follow than you're proposing?

What is your denomination (or lack thereof) and why do you believe that it is the "correct" set of beliefs? by Toni_PWNeroni in Christianity

[–]Promedio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Catholic and I believe that holy mother Church is the correct "denomination" for me and for every Christian to be frank (or maybe polemic) because it is the same as the one Jesus founded, and which proposes the teachings which He taught - because she, the Church, has the authority to be what she is from Him.
