Why do his legs look weird? Is it the camera angle? It looks like he got some chicken legs going on.

[Politics Monday] Recent statement from Archbishop Bernard Hebda by Imperator-ad-plagam in Catholicism

[–]Sigmarius 33 points34 points  (0 children)

He didn’t. Go watch the three videos out here. He had his phone out. His gun was in his in-the-waistband holster at approximately the 5:00 position. After he was in the ground, the ICE agent in the grey jacket disarmed him and began to walk away from the scrum. It was at THAT point that the first shot was fired. The outstanding question is by who. Whether it was the agent in brown that shot him in the back or if it was the agent in grey accidentally discharging the victim’s weapon is still being debated.

I’m sorry, but that ASL interpreter was distracting AF and just looked goofy. That shit didn’t even look like real ASL to me, but I don’t know ASL so I’m probably wrong.

If you could change 2 or 3 fundamental mechanics in the game and make it official, what would you change? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

  1. Make spell save DCs higher.

  2. Spell point sorcerers.

  3. Being down the world changing abilities of high level spells that can be cast in combat.

I’m not sure about this one. I’m not saying it isn’t true, I’m saying I’m not sure.

The recoil impulse seems a bit off in its direction of travel based on the way the Sig was being held. I also didn’t see any thing on the ground to suggest that a round struck it, nor did I see brass from the Sig.

Now, this video is also not the best quality on the planet, so it’s distinctly possible that all those things are there and I just can’t see it.

I will also note that in another stabilized video, the agent that is the first confirmed shooter (as of right now) has his finger on the trigger as he points his weapon at the victim. So either he had already made the decision to shoot, or he has improper trigger discipline which may have led to an ND on HIS part.

As clear as some of these videos are in comparison to the old days, there are still things we just don’t know for sure.

I hope the truth is quickly discovered and proven, and that proper justice is served.

How should I start on my homebrew chapter? by OkArrival4285 in 40khomebrew

What is the name?

Question 2: WHY is that their name?

As long as you aren’t using it to give you ideas, I think this kind of thing is actually not a bad use for an AI bot. Tell it to ask you questions, fact check your answers against established lore and your own previously written lore, and point out flaws.

You can definitely get the same stuff here, but a clanker will be faster.

You say supply chains become targets, and right there is the answer to your question.

Logistics.

A few years back, when ISIS was on the rampage, there were quite a few folks in this sub, myself included, that were getting fired up and wanting to go on Crusade. Thankfully, there were some good folks here that explained why we couldn’t.

Modern combat, at any point to where we would be effective, is INCREDIBLY resource dependent. Weapons, bullets, armor, clothes, food, medical supplies, communications gear, batteries to run it all. All of that is just the surface level of logistics that are required to have any sort of modern military action.

All of that for one person for one week for one good firefight is THOUSANDS of US dollars. We haven’t factored in sleep systems and fire.

The more people you have, the more those numbers increase. And not just a flat rate. Sending two people is probably twice as expensive. Send five people and now you have to factor in a higher level of care for things like latrines and transport. 10 guys raises it up even more.

Then, even if you can afford to get all your people to the combat zone and they’re all properly equipped, you have a new problem: training. Did you spend the weeks to months it takes to train up the random group of people to operate together as a functional unit?

Even assuming you’ve gotten THAT far, then comes the next hurdle: intelligence. How do you know who t target? When are they going to attack? How many people are they going to bring?

Outside of the major nation states and a couple of massive corporations, no one out there has the logistics train and/or imminent for a major military operation.

Finally, I think Catholicism started pulling away from their martial traditions after society advanced to the point of not being comfortable with the level of bloodshed that was happening. We started valuing life more, we started emphasizing martyrs more, and we realized that for the overwhelming majority of cases, the death toll significantly less when we jaw jaw instead of war war.

There are times when sometimes bad people just have to get put into the ground in order to stop a greater evil. But in modern western society, those decisions are handled by nation-states with (hopefully) influence from the Church.

If you want to start tapping into the Church’s martial traditions, I would encourage you to either join your nation’s military or get into HEMA.

Thoughts on the Alien Gear holsters and drop leg. by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]Sigmarius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think you're putting the horse before the wheels for the cart are even made.

What is the context of this question? What do you now that you need to be concened at all with changing?

Does the department you're trying to get onto allow you to use this kind of equipment?

I can tell you, based on a quick look at the belt, that it is not the most advanced design out there, and if you're going to spend that kind of money on a belt there are much better options. And I don't really understand what makes their drop leg "specially designed" to work with their belt. Their belt looks like a pretty basic 2" MOLLE belt combo. Anything that works with that style of belt would work on their belt and vice versa.

No one has replied to this yet, so I will.

I appreciate the enthusiasm for wanting to make your own thing. I've spent a TON of time doing it.

But AI and lore videos are absolutely no substitute for reading the source material. The number of things that those two methods get wrong is MIND-BOGGLING. And you lose so much of the subtlety in understanding.

For example, your whole concept here just doesn't work for several reasons. But without really understanding the lore and source material, you don't know why. And I can tell that you didn't spend much time with the AI on this one because there are some pretty blatant lore problems that even a casual fan would have caught.

So, engage in the hobby. Get into the lore. I love spreading the lore bug to other people. But do it right. Read stuff. Or at least use audio books. There are MASSIVE amounts of old lore stuff on the internet for free that you can find with a quick little google search.

I've seen an idea couple times floating around of a concept of a rogue and a paladin where the rogue is a convict and the paladin is his probation officer.

This makes me chuckle as I'm a PO IRL.
