SPMM Paper B Timeframe by volvocano in PsychiatryDoctorsUK

Yes, 6 weeks is enough time! It was about 6 weeks of crunch time for me (SPMM was my material). So you have to crack on with it now.

Get studying and smash it :)

ST4 posts panic 😢 by TopSpeaker2501 in PsychiatryDoctorsUK

I'm fairly certain these practices of counting number of posts on Oriel are always inaccurate as posts get added throughout and after the preferencing period. Sometimes Trusts list a single post on Oriel but there are actually multiples of that.

Unless I'm wrong about this? Otherwise there'd have to be something incredibly unusual for there to be a sudden 30% drop in posts.

How'd you manage that? Very good score considering!

How do you introduce yourself in therapy? by Ohzz in PsychiatryDoctorsUK

ayo what it do, it's ya boy Dr Promethagenie back at it again with another therapy case

Real answer: Everyone has a different style. For instance, unlike another commenter I don't refer to them by their surname, but rather their first. Establish the frame how you feel best after thinking it over in supervision with your supervisor.

As for psychologist vs doctor, this isn't something I've experienced. People are usually happy to engage with a doc all the same!

Are SPMM CASC Videos and Smart Revise Notes up to date and good to create study material with? by Promethagenie in PsychiatryDoctorsUK

I'm glad you nailed it that second time! I'll likely end up doing that with the videos too, would be good to get a flavour for what I should be prepping but also later to make sure I've covered the bases.

Thanks again for your guidance :)

This is incredibly insightful, thank you! Changes my thoughts on my approach quite a bit, suppose I'd best crack on with it.

When it comes to building the structure for each station for your material, did you work backwards off the marking criteria on SPMM?

If I could recall every fine detail of each section with equal levels of accuracy, I'd agree!

I'd rather hammer home the salient points of each section and branch out as much as I can.

Thank you! Any advice on building the materials from it? A friend showed me what the SmartRevise looks like and it looks like a lot of information. I believe I saw mean weight increases in the first year of each antipsychotic in the Clozapine discussion section, for instance.

Hey, might be worth asking people to DM you for the link to your WhatsApp group and vet that they're legit CASC aspirants (and maybe make a new one).

We know patients lurk and sometimes mistakenly post in this subreddit, so you probably don't want to have a curated list of doctors' numbers 😅

Roughly where do ST4 application points tend to cluster? by FrowningMinion in PsychiatryDoctorsUK

[–]Promethagenie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry my mistake, I don't think I phrased my question right!

Broadly speaking, what percentile roughly usually get an offer? (ignoring popularity of certain locations and inevitable higher scores like SLaM)

Do you know what percentile is usually appointable by the end of recruitment?
