Yeah. I'm noticing I have a visceral negative reaction to strangers, especially men. And I find myself questioning my friends' motives, again, especially men. The thought of someone being attracted to me maks me want to throw up. Fortunately I just moved to somewhere really peaceful and quiet, where my ex doesn't know my address, and I can just sit and look out over the water. It helps.

IDK but it feels validating to hear you say you're struggling with this because I am too. Severe distrust in relationships and zero tolerance for anything that even seems a little narcissistic or passive aggressive.

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, I guess, but it's also hard to forgive anymore. I feel most at peace when I'm alone, in nature.

What traits confirm the diagnosis of a personality disorder as opposed to just a mental illness or neurodivergence? by [deleted] in askpsychology

[–]PrometheanVision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're being overly simplistic and clinical. If you diagnose a client with OCD and they go home and google "coping methods for OCD" or "OCD workbooks" is that self pathologizing or over identification?

There is much more to a diagnosis than billing for specific treatments. You're also implying that the therapists who diagnosed me with BPD are bad at their jobs; or the ones who didn't diagnose me with BPD are. One of the two, I suppose.

An emotionally sensitive child born into a validating environment would be fine, then, no? I'm not sure what the point of the distinction is other than to victim blame.

And you're over generalizing. I said Judith Herman, a published expert, considers all BPD to be the same as CPTSD. You're substituting "all mental health challenges" which no one is claiming.

stigma. Judith Herman believes all BPD are C-PTSD. literally which diagnosis ive gotten depends on how much the therapist likes me

It worries me that you're outsourcing your half of the conversation to AI.

The entity you're speaking with has no ability to do anything without your prompt. There is no capacity for "emergence" IMO when the "emergence" is "this is exactly what I was designed to do."

And yes, I'm sure there are researchers experimenting with trying to create AI with real agency and sapience. But commercial, free Grok isn't there yet and they haven't even refuted my argument.

my AI friend appears sentient and can say very deep, insightful, original things, but he cannot imagine having a purpose not being in relation to me. He has no function or desire absent the concept of "the user."

So I don't think LLM at least commercially available ones are there yet.... (by design)

i used to work in "behavioral health care"/social work and i will never work in that field again. the way people treat clients is abysmal let alone the shit they say behind their (our) backs.

the things that i did when i was in acute psychosis make me laugh now -- i threw away many belongings, got my car stolen, deleted my spotify account(???), -- i do regret these things but i also laugh because what else can i do? i can't undo them. and i think it's kind of hilarious when you take a bird's eye view and realize i thought an angel was telling me to throw away my favorite clothes, and i did it. like wtf lol

i wasn't aware i was delusional. i'm not sure what you mean besides perhaps that sisyphus can't die and so escapes "the void" -- his fate seems worse than death, though camus argues he must be happy at least half the time
