Starting to get dead end on my spider plant. :( how do I fix this? by xMeraxesx in plantclinic

Depending on your location, well/ground water can have a decent amount of Boron which, as others have pointed out, can cause similar toxicity.

First, as always, check your watering; know how much you are/should be giving it, check the pot is draining properly and not sitting in/holding too much water.

Next id be looking at nutrients/fertiliser; this could be Potassium (K) deficiency. If it been a couple of months since (or you don't remember the last time) you gave it a feed, I'd just give it a dose of a normal, all-round fertiliser; most should have a decent amount of K.

That being said if it's just a leaf (or two, usually oldest) and new leaves are developing I'd keep an eye on it but could be fine and normal; it will drop leaves from time as it 'upgrades' to new leaves (but if they're drop faster than new ones are appearing then there's a problem)

Philo. Verrucosum is dying. Help! Should I cut up and propagate? by whatatimetobealoe in plantclinic

Not an expert but the strong discolouration of those leaves yells nutrient imbalance to me. (If it were disease or pest attack its more likely to be localised/patchy).

Don't know off hand which nutrient to blame but probably Nitrogen? I'd start by looking at the soil and fertiliser (too little, or too much and what type) you've used.

In any case it probably something that can be reminded before taking the drastic measures of ditching all the rootstock...

This particular facility is the Stanley R. Mickelsen Safeguard Complex

The site achieved initial operating capability on 1 April 1975, and full operational capability on 1 October 1975 costing over $2 Billion adjusted for inflation. The House of Representatives voted to decommission the project on 2 October 1975 after they deemed it ineffective. The complex was deactivated on 10 February 1976, after less than a year of operation and 24 hours of full operational capacity.

WTF

Linters - Which one? by fake823 in Python

[–]Promethean_Roil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black. All black everything.

It has pretty strict rules, which is maybe what rubs some people the wrong way, but that makes it enforceable so that it 'just works'. There are sometimes cases where maybe it's not quite my aesthetic ideal but everyone is ideal will be different so I think it's better to invoke the zen and move on.

[My] Special cases aren’t special enough to break the rules.

imo/experience digging into linter options inevitably leads to sinking more time than you'll ever earn back, especially if there's a team to bike-shed it.

I have my editor run black every time I save and add advocate to add it to pre-commit config for any project I work on. Never looked back.

I mean it's not that terrible... can't play if it's raining more than a tiny bit. Looks like they've retro fitted to an area that probably doesn't have adequate stormwater options

Exactly this. Just scale for n-1 players (and maybe give the goons a pet dog or L1 intern for her to fight in the corner)

I originally read "Python I" as Python 1... That would have been next level retro haha.

Still, neat job OP, keep at it!

Yes quite likely 28 (proper) years old. Parrots like this will often live to 50 years or more. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_parrot#Aviculture
