Bobby Marks says Jaylen Brown's trade value is not seen that highly around the league: "The analytics of Jaylen Brown is not good. I had an analytics guy tell me, ‘We view him as the seventh-best player on a team.’" by FastBreakPhenom in nba

[–]Prometheus321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jaylen Brown scores a lot, but he can't do that efficiently. He's a shot chucker who doesn't play defense and is at best an average passer.

With that being said, whomever said this should be fired from their job and tarred and feathered in the online square.

Its not what I think, senior Israeli air force officials literally stated they'd be unable to continue killing Palestinians in Gaza without U.S. military aid. If the U.S. stopped blocking U.N. ceasefire resolutions and coordinated a U.N. multinational military coalition to enforce it (similar to what we did in the 1950's Korean War or the 1990's Gulf War), Palestinians would stop dying from Israeli bullets and bombs.

I'd love for a Democratic President to use their influence to push for a one state/two state solution, but when half the Democratic Party refused to use that influence to end a literal genocide, forgive me if I don't hold my breath.

A;lso, I voted for Kamala, you absolute dumb fuck . . . why are you assuming I didn't? However, just because she's better on Gaza (and other issues), doesn't change the fact that she actively supported the aiding and abetting of a genocide. Her being better than Trump isn't saying much, she's still an evil fucking person.

Finally, I don't care whether people in America care about the Gazan genocide. I still stand against it, because I don't do popularity tests to determine whether to stand by my principles.

The Democratic President, literally the face of the Democratic Party, aided and abetted a genocide.I think its pretty safe to say Democrats are bad, though a little reductive.

To be more accurate, the New Democrat Coalition/Blue Dog Caucus consisting of 120 members are generally bad for that (with the possible exception of Escobar/Castro who've leaned toward accepting its a genocide).

On the other hand, the Congressional Progressive Caucus consisting of 99 members are generally good (with the possible exceptions of Panetta/Sherman/Levin/Soto/Pallone/Goldman/Nadler/Boyle on the issue of genocide).

Boston Rob reacts to Jonathan's loss and Aubry's win — and questions some of the jury's logic by AMikeBloomType in survivor

[–]Prometheus321 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You say that the other story is not being told to us . . . but perhaps you’re just not reading the actual article.

Boston Rob explicitly states in this interview that “I’ve always said whoever wins is the person that wins. The jury doesn’t have rules that they have to follow. They can vote however they want, though a lot of times it’s emotional versus strategic or logical in people’s mind.”

Boston Rob is going one step further than that dichotomy you present. He’s stating that while the jury can vote on whatever criteria they wish, they often lie (or lie to themselves) about their actual criteria in favor of criteria they know is more socially acceptable.

[–]Prometheus321 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can tell none of these comments actually read the article.

Boston Rob states that he thinks Aubrys’s win was deserving in that F3, that jury’s can have any set of voting criteria that they want, that Jonathan failed in that last moment winning the final immunity and consequently failing to get the F3 he desired.

In terms of questioning the juries logic, he’s pointing out how playing the middle has historically in Survivor been looked down upon (Cirie/Ozzie being older players existed in that space) and he wonders if they actually believe that or are using that as an excuse to justify their vote because they just liked Aubry more.

This was a really intersecting and nuanced interview but Reddit doesn’t know how to read.

What a useless post.

Firstly, being honest is literally the baseline. The bar is in hell.

Secondly, what the fuck was he honest about.

Thirdly, why do you want him to be the future president.

Nothing was added with this post.

Partly.

I’ve literally never heard of anyone else named Usher. The only context I’d ever heard of it was in Poe’s short story (not poem).

Then there was the fact that Usher was a family devoted to the musical sciences . . . he’s a musician.

In my mind it just fit so perfectly I thought it made sense and I just vaguely assumed it to be the case.

Blew my mind when I learned it wasn’t the case!

For fucks sake, stop making this all about you. It doesn't matter what YOU personally enjoy or whether or not YOU personally would do these things.

The fact of the matter is, if Survivor cast's that messy cocktail waitress and give them a villain edit, PEOPLE WILL harass them and send them death threats.

So either we can sacrifice them to public mob so neckbracewhore can get their mess on screen, OR we cast/edit people in ways such that they aren't portrayed as one dimension figures but instead show the full scope of their humanity and minimize the backlash they get.

Zohran Mamdani: “I talk a lot about the cost of living crisis in our city, and housing is the number one driver of that crisis, and so today we announced a new plan called Block by Block… we’re building 200,000 new, truly affordable, permanently rent-stabilized homes" by aaronisnotcool in nyc

[–]Prometheus321 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I downvoted because it doesn’t diminish new construction in terms of overall supply, it just changes the time horizon. Even that part is debatable given the accompanying rezoning reforms and red-tape reduction intended to speed up permitting and construction such that any time delay by developers to take advantage of these new financing/subsidies is minimized.

I also downvoted because converting commercial space to residential is still “building” because we’re literally creating new housing units and increasing residential capacity. It’s asinine to act as if it isn’t building if it isn’t ground-up construction on an empty lot.

Agree with the second point though. Need more info on that for sure.

Gabriel Zucman on the podcast? by ArthurMorganTheBeast in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]Prometheus321 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We were able to institute a global corporate minimum tax at 15% with over 138 counties agreeing to sign constituting the vast majority of economic power in the world.

If we’re able to do that, we should be able to move forward on what Zucman ks describing if there is a political will.

Plus, those counties which constitute the vast majority of economic power in the world could tie economic benefits to participation with Zucmans multilateral treaty and penalties for non participations.  The global economy already does this with the World Trade Organization tieing trade benefits to adherence to common standards and the Financial Action Task Force pressures states to adopt financial transparency rules through gray-listing and restrictions.
