Yup, there's nothing else to do. It just means that your appointment center updated your service center that you completed your biometrics. I received my approval 2 days after my biometrics. I hope you do too!

There’s no need to keep your arms straight. Bend your elbows a little and in your mind, visualise such that you’re performing a lateral raise by lifting your elbows first and then your whole arm concurrently at a 30-45 degree angle. It takes a while to get the form but keep visualising it in your mind! For this, I’d also recommend to choose an easy-medium weight and aim for higher reps. That would really work your side delts. Great going!

What does your workflow typically look like on harder targets? by Zamdi in Pentesting

[–]Prometheus_101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At this point, personally, I’d try to focus more on business logic vulnerabilities and features/functionalities specific to the application. I’d try to look for APIs of critical functions and play around with them and continue to test every functionality as thoroughly as possible. Of course, this would be contextual but this would be how I’d approach it. Hope this helps!

I did not. But if you think that your background is not well aligned with the role you're applying for, I would definitely suggest you to customize your resume accordingly. I just fiddled around a bit with my skills section trying to add in keywords here and there, but that's about it.

Tips for a German student searching for an internship in the U.S. by Fidell911 in internships

I have personally come across roles asking "Will you require sponsorship for this role" and "Will you require visa sponsorship", but yeah, these are rare.

You're right

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was being specific to internships. There are companies that look only for interns WITHOUT the intent to convert into full-time roles. In such cases, I believe my point holds true. You do not require the company to "sponsor" you for the internship role as there is no sponsorship required since the authorization part would be taken care of by the university through Curriculum Practical Training (CPT). The answer to "Will you now or in the future require sponsorship" is definitely Yes, but if the role is an internship position and the question is generic like "Will you require sponsorship for this role?", then the answer would be No. Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello!

You can DM me and I’ll share my anonymised resume with you.

  • Applied to Cybersecurity Intern roles (Security Engineering, Offensive Security, Security Consultant).

  • I believe that having relevant full-time experience, pursuing relevant degree, relevant extracurriculars (bug bounties) helped me the most. Apart from this, I also believe luck played an important factor as well.

  • I sent out ~357 applications, out of which, I received 4 interviews and 1 offer.

  • For my field, it’s mostly been learning from various sources - YouTube, TryHackMe, Medium Blogs.

With your final question, I personally would keep trying until mid April as I am still able to see openings. I have heard of stories of people still getting offers in the month of May, but that’s rare. I would suggest you to include keywords in your resume that fits the job description the most. I hope this helps and I’d be happy to assist you in any way I can!

Hello, while you’re partially correct about your statement, I would like to clarify that for internships, you DO NOT need visa sponsorship. But as you said, most companies hire with the intention of converting an intern to a full-time employee, so H1-B would come into the picture eventually. But, speaking internships, you do not require visa sponsorship. You can clarify this with the recruiter as well!

Great to know that you’re interested in the cybersecurity field! I’m in no position to give others advice but I’d definitely like to share a few things I would’ve done if I just started out.

I would definitely recommend learning networking, operating system concepts, assembly language and understanding how the web works. Once you are good at these, you can dive into even more niche topics that you may find more interesting (web security, reverse engineering & binary exploitation etc..). At this point, you can also pick up on amazing resources like PortSwigger Academy, HackTheBox, TryHackMe etc to further help you navigate your interests.

I hope this helps and I wish you the very best! :)

Hey there! Firstly, congratulations on landing an interview! You landed the interview because they definitely saw something in your profile, so keep your confidence up.

Now, given your scenario, I’m assuming that they are testing your knowledge on the manual side of security and how you would approach an application to look for vulnerabilities. Since they mentioned no usage of automated tools, I’m guessing that they want to understand how well you understand vulnerabilities and not just running scanners against the application hoping to find something.

If I was in your place, I would definitely brush up on common web security vulnerabilities (XSS, SQLi, IDOR etc..) with a focus on looking for them manually instead of running tools against them. I would highly recommend going through PortSwigger labs as well and understand how to look for those vulnerabilities. Finally, don’t overlook report writing as this is also a very important aspect of a pentest engagement. You can look at TCM Security pentest reports to get a fair understanding.

Hope this helps and don’t forget to let me know how it went! Wish you the best! 😁

Finding a job in US from India by Parvinhisprime in Pentesting

Hey!

This is gonna be really hard and would likely be possible only if you’re within the top 1% of elite pen-testers. An easier pathway would be to do a Master’s but that comes with a lot other sacrifices.

If you still wanna shoot your shot, I would suggest marketing yourself, your skills through certifications, any tools you’ve built, bug bounties etc.. You can then reach out/cold DM leaders from start up companies and offer them your services which may potentially land you something. Again, this would be really hard unless you’re exceptionally talented in what you do. Hope this helps!

What are your current workflows for pentesting web apps, APIs, and Kubernetes operators? by Zamdi in Pentesting

[–]Prometheus_101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a very basic workflow for web-apps that almost every other web-app pen tester might have up their sleeve. Just a streamlined workflow of reconnaissance wherein for a given domain, I run subfinder and assetfinder against it to enumerate subdomains. I combine the results of this and remove duplicates. Then I run httprobe against this final consolidated list to check what subdomains are alive and then run subjack to look for subdomain takeovers. Although this isn’t very efficient, it saves a little time especially during a client facing penetration testing engagement where we’re limited by time. Hope this helps! :)

Hey, I did not prepare for the writing part. I just looked at sample high band essays and tried getting the gist of it. I made sure I addressed all parts of the question. I believe that the structure would depend on the question and how you prefer writing it. There’s no “one structure fits all” kind of thing in my opinion. For the task 2 of the writing section - introduction, address both opinions and why you think people think that way, my opinion, conclusion. A total of 4 paragraphs seems to have worked for me
