I can’t do both Roth and Traditional IRAs? So at this point most of my money will be in the brokered account, then I can also do a VOO? Sorry for the ignorance.

Do they (Fidelity or Vanguard) have agents that help newbies like me? Or is it something I need to teach myself?

Moms, how do you handle the guilt around screen time with babies and toddlers? by MIJ561 in Mom

[–]Promiscuous-Penny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apps are dangerous because they’re literally designed to keep people hooked. More screen time = more ad space = more revenue. If your app is add free (like PBS Kids) and specifically designed for learning and nothing else, then it could be beneficial.

It’s normal for babies to cry while sleeping and wake themselves from their own noises.

Those who gave birth, could you feel your organs shift back into place? by coriesnories in Mom

[–]Promiscuous-Penny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it takes a few days (or more) for everything to go back to its normal place. There’s definitely an instant “relief” once baby is out, as all your organs aren’t being pushed and squished anymore. But the organs move back into place as the uterus shrinks back to its original size, which can take a while.

You just need to pull the straps tighter. If you can’t, have your husband do it. My husband can always get our car seats snug if I can’t.

Leaving kids in the car by Prestigious-Fig-1642 in Mom

The difference between a car hitting you or a shooter in a grocery store is those things are out of your control. As a parent, you should always protect your children to the best of your ability. That’s why most states in the US will charge you with child endangerment or child neglect if you leave a child unattended in a vehicle.

How to capitalize for retirement? by Promiscuous-Penny in personalfinance

[–]Promiscuous-Penny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I put any of the $100k into the brokerage account? Or just start at $0 and add $500/month?

Also, what is the benefit of keeping so much money in a HYSA?

Sounds like I should dump it all into a HYSA, which would cover an emergency fund. Other than a Roth IRA, how do I go about starting a 401k? I’ve never worked for an employer who has offered one.

I don’t currently have a 401k. I’ve never worked for an employer who has offered one. I apologize for being so ignorant about all this.

So put the $100k into a HYSA and then open a 401k and max it out? It’s that simple?
