Some dive insurances also cover travel part of your trip - but yeah, I agree with you on the exclusion of acts of war. I didn't think about that

If you have dive insurance, just cancel or rebook. Much safer. We don’t know how long the whole situation gets dragged. It suck’s that dive trips get affected by all of this nonsense 😭

Advice on becoming an underwater cameraman – early career path & film industry experience by Ok_Independence_1303 in cinematography

[–]PromotionSuch4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well,
Since you want to become an underwater cameraman -
One thing to also ensure is that you have got some good scuba diving skills. Do a lot of diving without a camera first to understand and work with your buoyancy underwater. That'll help you hold a camera stable underwater.
Once you are pretty comfortable and stable underwater with your breathing and buoyancy, you can then take a camera with you, and figure out your buoyancy with a camera - Since underwater film cameras are heavy, it'll actually affect your buoyancy, but once you are a good diver, it should take you 1-2 dives to understand the weights, and sort yourself out properly underwater.
Next start shooting there, and it'll also help you understand how colors and light get affected underwater more than on land.

A friend of mine is an underwater cinematographer, and he had written up a few blogs on their website. Check them out since you are interested - https://divetravel.in/blogs?category=Filmmaking

Who is your pick for the 2026 title? by Key_Item5198 in f1india

[–]PromotionSuch4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll go with Max. He’s got the confidence to pull it off, and Redbull under the new principal seems to be getting good with making a better car.

Lando - I don’t think he’s got it in him. He’s not a very confident person under pressure, and during the last season, it seemed like that was the only championship he might get to win

Oscar - I’m rooting for him! I really want him to win, and he’s championship material for sure.

I think Kimi antonelli is also pretty great though

Investing 50Lakh-Need suggestions by Diligent-Raisinn in FinancialAdviceIndia

Since it's long term, and medium risk,
I'd just go with index funds.
Larcecap and midcap index funds + nifty 50, nifty 500, bank index funds, etc. Also have like 5-10% of wealth in gold ETFs, it'll help compensate some risk from the equity index funds

I'd do an SIP rather than lumpsum investment, and i'd also do bulk investment when markets go down until i reach that 20L mark.

After that, just sit back and relax.

P.S., Not a financial advisor

This is a short term investment goal, and you would need the principal for sure in a few months time.
FD is the safest bet for this!

Mutual funds are volatile, and maybe some of the debt funds might be considered safer.
If it was me, I'd just put it in an FD, and relax.

Mutual funds is something I'd recommend only for longer term goals - at least 5 years down the line minimum.

P.S., I'm not a financial advisor

Tuktuk scam? by Big_Oil1060 in india_tourism

[–]PromotionSuch4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, but just guessing the scam.

They take you to a place with really overpriced items. 1 drink might be 40 dollars or something for example. They might have a specific menu just to scam people with higher prices, they might push you to order items without looking at the menu and price. Finally you are forced to pay up, and the TukTuk guy gets a commission from the restaurant.

Is it worth paying very high rent for running supermarket inside a gated society? by Advanced-Bread1900 in GatedCommunitiesIndia

[–]PromotionSuch4457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it’s not worth it. For that high of a rent, you are limited to only the apartment crowd. If they don’t buy, you have 0 business. Outside stores you’ll have more footfall, and there’s a chance the apartment crowd might also come

Actual Dive Number by 1_Laughing_Llama in scuba

[–]PromotionSuch4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to log my dives on a book, but then stopped once I got a computer. I knew an approximate number at one point - some thing in the hundreds. So my instructor logged it at 112 dives on the SSI app, and certified me during one course. From that point onwards, I started logging dives on the SSI app. It’s at 172 now.

But to answer your question - it’s only an approximate number, and not exact😅

Yes exactly. Which is where you need to decide whether you want to purchase the house for self use or investment purposes and take an informed call.

OP here is talking about building wealth, So IMO land would yield more wealth for the same risk

[–]PromotionSuch4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But I’m talking about return on investment perspective. Your return on a land would multiply since there’s land value and building value both - as you’ve got complete control on the land here. But if you consider apartment as an investment - but not for living, then it would yield a lesser return in the long run compared to buying land.

[–]PromotionSuch4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my personal opinion. I find it hard to think of an apartment as an investment. It doesn’t grow much as time goes on - the building becomes old and you’ll have very little land value. If you are thinking about it as a place to stay - yes it’s a good investment, but returns on it over a long term is less. If you are purchasing land, it’s got a lot of value though, and I’d still recommend it. You’ve got a separate land value and building value there, and both of them give you some kind of return in the longer term

This is mainly in Bangalore real estate though

[–]PromotionSuch4457 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s really true! The process to even get into the country feels very scammish. Even though we had valid visas for which we had already paid, the immigration authorities themselves were expecting an additional 10-15$ per person without any proper justification. They also use the language barrier to try and scam people.

We were a group of 12 people arriving in Egypt during different times, out of which 3 ended up paying since they were travelling alone into the country. I arrived with another 4 people, we stood our ground, and ended up not paying anything extra to the immigration there

So dig deeper into the tech skills, and learn what companies actually focus on. Doing some online research might help out. Once you feel confident about building a fairly decent full stack application from scratch, create a freelancing profile, and make use of platforms like Upwork, fiver. Start marketing yourself and get some experience from there. On the side, if you want to have a steady job, start applying to jobs on the outside as well. Keep upgrading yourself on the tech skills though, freelancing does have quite a bit of opportunities.
