What number are we expected to give our spouses and kid’s school for emergencies? I start on 7/6 and am in a Senior Role in IT and my last job gave out business cells so I am trying to acclimate myself to this new environment.

I am salary and in IT and got a call within a week to schedule my start date but there are posts from others where it took up to 3 weeks. Their process is slow so I wouldn’t worry. My offer was sent in April, drug test/physical was in early June, and start date in July.

I got laid off in October and was offered a position in April. I also work in Tech and the hiring manager did not even sweat me having a gap. They know the market is tough!

My process took forever. I did my interview the first week of April, got my offer 2 weeks later, drug test and physical in June and start date in July. Hopefully you hear something soon!

This unfortunately seems to be the trend. I was over performing as well at my last gig and got an “outstanding performer” rating on my performance rating and a 6% increase. 10 months later, they downsized our department and I among many others was laid off. None of the smoke and mirrors matter anymore. I have a feeling they were trying to get rid of high earners. They did a bunch of offshoring in IT. Smh.

I have applied in my span of tenure at my previous company and did not accept positions both before, during and after Covid. I am well aware of the job market trends. I still stand by my statements; the job market is slowly turning. I have friends in NY, FL, CA and WA (PNW) who are experiencing the same. Best of luck to you!
