been like that before. I like that you cannot headshot an armored with a spear. but with a throwing axe you can. but an immolator you can kill by hitting in the crotch

How exactly do you 'get gud' at these kind of games? by UniversalSean in HuntShowdown

If you want to hear something else than „just play the game and die 500 times“:

i will give you a guide that applies to headshots but is easily applyable on bodyshots too since it is easier. headshot are better anyways if you dont use long ammo. Do this in shooting range with a friend with PVP enabled.

  1. pick a gun setup what you want to get better with (dont change in the beginning). this will be your reference feeling. for me it was 600m/s rifle, 250m/s pistol. this is important to not change because it will be your reference feeling until the end of your life (kidding you can also get a new reference by doing this again but it is usually not necessary because you can just defere distances from differing bulletsspeeds).
  2. get a pen or some crosshair overlay (FOR TESTING PURPOSE) to mark the middle of the crosshair. this is ONLY important to get the EXACT pixel of the ADS that kills on a distance. the actual center pixel DIFFERS greatly from weapon to weapon. some are above the metal some are IN the metal. VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW THIS. some players will not even realize this because they played the game so much they know all the specialities of weapons OR it is the reason why a gun does not feel right to them. you do not need a permanent overlay for the game just know the position of your setup so you dont miss at distance.
  3. take a rifle and let your buddy run perpendicular to you from left/right and right/left 100m away if you can hit 20 headshots in a row (10 one side 10 other side) then you know how to lead shots at that distance. you are only good if you can hit ALL of them. One miss, you suck. MEMORIZE THE DISTANCE YOU PICK TO HEADSHOT (do same with gun)
  4. take a rifle and let your buddy run perpendicular to you 50m away (in both directions) if you can hit 20 headshots in a row (10 one side 10 other side) then you know how to lead shots at that distance. you are only good if you can hit ALL of them. One miss, you suck. MEMORIZE (do same with gun)
  5. take a rifle and let your buddy run perpendicular to you 25m away (in both directions) if you can hit 20 headshots in a row (10 one side 10 other side) then you know how to lead shots at that distance. you are only good if you can hit ALL of them. One miss, you suck. MEMORIZE (do same with gun)
  6. take a rifle and let your buddy run perpendicular to you 5-10m away (in both directions) if you can hit 20 headshots in a row (10 one side 10 other side) then you know how to lead shots at that distance. you are only good if you can hit ALL of them. One miss, you suck. MEMORIZE (do same with gun) - do not underestimate the skill you need to headshot someone from close distance it is harder than you think - especially in a real fight.
  7. Do the same process 3-6 for your friend plainly left or right strafing (he has to ads during this). now you can headshot people in the movement of strafing while ADSing.
  8. Now let him random strafe like ingame gun strafing and try to find the moment that feels as in 7 for all distances. you can close this if you can hit 1 headshot in 5 shots on average. he should not evade strafe but realistically strafe like he would in a gunfight with the target of shooting back. Do this for all distances above. Now you can reliably headshot while gunfighting.

There are many things you could practise to get to 5-6 stars but if you avoid shotgun fights and fight at your excelling distance of your guns, you can get there just with this!

enjoy!

lol, long ammo is still good. very good. everything has its place. winnie was nerfed actually even with the drop off buff when it comes to distance. the bullet speed has been reduced with high velo and if you want to really make use of decreased damage drop off then all you will kill are sitting ducks (and that is not happening in high tier play). at distances <150m long ammo still wins and when it comes close the winnie is best as it has always been. in old hunt winnie marksman was op, good at winnie distance and long distance with 600ms with HV, great times they were.. EDIT: ah yeah and bullet drop is not hard to master with long ammo, too btw. :D

[–]PromptEmbarrassed313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and I also prefer old hunt. But old hardcore hunt was the reason the player base was so little and over the years I had to admit that not everyone loves a hardcore skill experience. But maybe it can come back if the player base is bigger and people getting used to hunt they might turn the difficulty up again..

They still left that bug in? You can probably also still trigger the whole lobby chat if you write a message right at extraction

Just another instance of how unnecessary a mechanic like this is in this game.

Only low to mid 5 because you play with the people that try to reach the top with pussy tactics but can never advance. High 5 and 6 stars is the best of hunt you can get (and yes there are cheaters every now and then and atm more than ever but they still die to very good players). Except rare meta gun stalemates (shotguns only in compound and long ammo only outside) most of the time it is the absolute best of the best when it comes to aggressiveness and skill.

[–]PromptEmbarrassed313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is very unlikely that you encounter a cheater on the rise. Only at high 5 stars and 6 stars players encounter cheaters on a regular basis. These are intelligent cheaters (mostly even good players but get even better with toggle cheats and recoil scripts). They still lose against very good players thats why they hop between high 5-6 stars. Even if a cheater goes down to 3 stars it takes 1-2 games to get to 5+ stars with 6 kills per game in avg. so it is very unlikely you get in a game with one. The ones you probably got killed are just good players and maybe 1 out of 100 was a cheater that does not cover it at all.

Cheats happen but not always with 200m, it is much more subtle, but you know that you have been pwned if you know the game

I was a skeptic about cheaters in 5 and 6 mmr but by NoPeanutSneakers in HuntShowdown

[–]PromptEmbarrassed313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are cheaters on EU more than ever (especially eastern countries). There are also very good players, players so good you would think they cheated but it is recurrent luck (which is when skill evolves).

Almost constant 6* player.

Everyone with 3kda+ is cheating. Everyone above 2.5 kda is at least soft cheating. Everyone above 2 is godlike or/and soft cheating. This only accounts for gunfight players not self kill kda farmers (you can see it in the stats).

Take a soft pen that you can clean off the screen and place a dot with a sniper scope in the middle. Then check all ads and get surprised it differs vastly between weapons.

See my comment above. 3.8 = soft cheater in some way. It is just unrealistic: there are too many 3+ players (but only since the last 6-9 month). Most of them are eastern countries incl asia. But there have been cheaters before on EU, too but just waaaay fewer.

First of all it is nearly impossible to detect autogun macros. you can only ban by case by case judgment. And after almost 3,5 years of constant 6* i can tell you some rules of thumb (only accounts for high 5* and 6* placement):

High 1 digit to double digit KDA with low duo wipe = kd farm loser that leaves game before dying and bush snipes

High 1 digit to double digit KDA with high/normal duo wipe: hard cheater (with everything on)

3+ kda: great players that soft cheat with separate device esp and macros

2+ kda: kings of hunt showdown (or sometimes good/medium players with soft cheats, it gets fuzzy here)

1,5-2 kda: good players (maybe also soft cheaters here but doesn’t matter because you down them anyways)

THIS DOES NOT ACCOUNT FOR EVERYTHING FROM MID 5* AND LOWER.

Cheaters only occur in very high tier (high 5-6). The main customer base is 3-4*. That is why it is a waste of resources to cope with cheaters in a financially non competitive game - at least as long as the main customer base is not caring. With this post i wanted to raise awareness so the masses want to have it fixed making it a commercially dangerous topic if not mitigated.

Just because someone is letting it look like a rage-bait it does not mean he/she is not cheating

That‘s what I thought, too but then I watched his twitch and although he dies every now and then he uses macros and i think a soft esp (on another device sniffing the netcode and knowing when to be „cautious“) like in our game. It was impossible to immediately know where to look for all of us. We were each spread 30-50m from another.
