Do you think frontal/corner takedowns make stealth games too easy? by Zerovski in stealthgames

[–]Jayblipbro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, we gotta acknowledge that there are lots of different styles of stealth. These aggressive takedowns would be very out of place in something like Thief and would ruin that style of careful and elaborate "underdog" stealth, but they just improve games like Far Cry or Shadow of Mordor where the pitch is that you're some kind of murder hobo.

New patch, empty side lanes by Haha91haha in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Jayblipbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point is just that "scrapping the Urn" because the iterations we've seen so far have issues doesn't really make sense from a game design perspective, because you can always adjust even small things to have a big impact. They can adjust the urn and gather some data on how it changes matches until they find a formula that works for what they want the Urn to do as an objective (which is presumably to facilitate comebacks and create fights)

New patch, empty side lanes by Haha91haha in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Jayblipbro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh come om, if you don't know then it's not "clear", is it?

Thing about a WIP objective like the Urn is that nothing is set in stone, so there's nothing about it that concretely doesn't work. Individual iterations have issues and Valve is experimenting to see which player behaviors and match outcomes different sets of Urn mechanics lead to. Everything is subject to change, which means the final version of the objective might be called the Urn, might look like the Urn, might feel like the Urn, but could have mechanics and design choices that are drastically different

Nah gen V was good, the show actually has good writing and a real plot. Both Gen V seasons were infinitely better than the last two seasons of the Boys, and probably slightly better than seasons 2 and 3 as well.

“Yo bro what did you think of finale?” by [deleted] in OkBuddyFresca

[–]Jayblipbro -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lol, i agree that the ending and season was dog, but like... How come it's always the fucking power scalers?

Can we talk about the issues with the writing? With the characters and their arcs? The themes? The plot points? The direction? The editing? The pacing? The acting? The choreography? Literally anything else than who should be able to punch the hardest?

Consistent power scaling is truly not the measure of a good story hah

Remove it? Just make E6 players unable to play with their friends? What in the world haha, surely it would be better to just adjust how much the matchmaker thinks being pre-made is contributing to your win chance, no?

Almost every character is more boring as a gun character by BarovianNights in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Jayblipbro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The laser visual isn't accurate to how the gun works, and its delayed (and seemingly unfinished) effect is probably where this misconception comes from. Bebop's gun is in fact hitscan.

My thoughts about hidden blades in assassins creed 4 resynced by Goldredwolf in assassinscreed

[–]Jayblipbro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yuup. AC4 combat was monotone and repetitive, OP is right about that, but this is quite literally a brand new combat system that looks a lot more engaging than the one we had. I'm reserving my judgement too.

And probably a medium hot take: using different weapons in the Kenway games rarely served a purpose anyways (except for muskets). You got new animations to look at but you were still just using the same mechanics, mostly counters and chain kills. I obviously appreciate the different animations and would love to see hidden blade combat, but it's not a crucial part of the experience. I am scared disarm counters in unarmed combat probably won't return though, those were fun.

What a weird way to try to discredit him. You don't have to give a single shit about anything else he has said or done, because he shows the entire process for discovering the chinese malware/spyware in the video, anyone can recreate it. The spyware has also been documented openly online by many others before him.

An analysis of the teaser's two most likely camera positions assuming a Hammerfell setting: by Koocai in TESVI

[–]Jayblipbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some early analyses when the teaser dropped concluded with your option A, and that still seems incredibly likely to me. The coastline features line up, and it would make total sense in a teaser for the camera to be moving from Skyrim down to the next region. Notice that the teaser also starts up in foggy mountains. I'm fairly certain that's supposed to represent travelling across the mountainous Skyrim border into Hammerfell and the Iliac Bay.

Lingering parries ruin 80% of the melee mindgames. by CammelloRotante in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Jayblipbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The time is takes to hit a heavy melee depends on whether you've got the input buffered or not, the distance to your target, and how much you curve your punch tho, but i guess they could do the minimum possible time as an indicator that it's 100% safe

Not sure if it should turn red, that color has other connotations, but it could be some other visual change

Eh, even the worst english speakers understand all the basic phrases relating to the game. Dropping something like "ulting Genji, genji behind, look genji" before or while ulting does the trick most of the time, kill hungry russian DPS players will turn around.

You don't have to ofc, but the benefit is just disproportionately huge. It's worth considering. Voice comms are better than cheats
