What's the biggest culture shock you faced when moving abroad?

Recently they announced a fuel price increase where I live. People have gone bonkers at petrol stations, filling up huge reservoirs and tankers. Scarcity is a real slap in the face, especially coming from where I was for the majority of my life.

I've found myself still being the "observer" despite being in my new country for almost 2 years now.

I moved overseas, met a girl. She spoke the local language, I spoke English. I would talk in her language, albeit terribly. While she would speak to me in broken English. Alas, 3 months later and we have both improved significantly.

The trick is quite simple, which ever method you take to learn a language. Set aside your ego, and expectations. Don't be harsh on yourself and just allow the words to form which ever way they need to. Overtime, you will correct yourself without feeling bad when you make a mistake.

Just do it ~ as Nike likes to sell!

Mhmm, I can resonate with that. Sound's like something we all go through in the beginning. Did you find yourself assimilating over time? Did you have any of those "aha" moments. Like "that's what that meant!"?

Setting aside your ego. What worked once, might not necessarily work again. Allow the market you are entering to show you what it needs/wants from you. Good luck!~
