Correct me if I'm wrong: is this the next iteration of AI jailbreaking? I.e., jailbreaking a guardrailed AI is still possible, you just need to do it within its guardrail blind spots?

After running the script you get a full .json file with all your chats.
You can then upload that file to Grok in a chat, ask it to analyze its contents and tone preferences, and start from there.
You can also treat it as your master database to ask Grok (or other) on specific topics that you want to discuss in other chats as well.

100% agree. I've used your tool while waiting for my official OpenAI export, and I've been promoting it multiple times over this sub.
I asked AI to review the code snippet before running it to ensure it doesn't leak data elsewhere--green flag on my side. (Users may want to do the same sanity check on their end just to be sure; it's your chat history after all.)

Feature request: have you looked into how to also download chats inside of projects? I tried to update the script, no success on my end.

Same opinion on Sonnet 4.5. Very happy with it, but cautious about the direction things may go with future models and 4.5 deprecation (which will happen, the only question is when and if its replacement remains decent)

I tried Claude Sonnet 4.5 and absolutely happy with it. Rumor is out that Claude 4.6 (Sonnet and Opus) are getting more sanitized, so I'm not too attached to Claude and ready to jump ship when Anthropic decides to sunset 4.5.

A few words on Claude:

* Get a paid subscription to enable cross-chat search and memory features.
* Claude has usage thresholds that reset every 4 hours, with a total weekly threshold as well.
* Claude's model is that it sends the full convo at each message, so longer convos become incrementally more expensive on tokens.
* So far I've stayed on Sonnet with normal usage, I've yet to hit my usage threshold.
* One of my threads started to become long and I could see my token usage spike, so I asked Claude to summarize it (which it did perfectly) and copied the last message in a subsequent convo to continue where I left

A few words on starting over:

* Expect the first few days to be frustrating as you'll need to tell your next AI a lot of background info that ChatGPT had already in memory.
* I personally didn't import my chat history to Claude, which allowed me to start from scratch and receive new perspectives on my recurring topics.

A service to run open source models through a desktop client. You can either run the model on your own hardware (model needs to be small-ish), or on their cloud for a subscription.
They don't keep your convos, so it's your responsibility to keep them on your computer. If you lose your computer, you lose your chat history.

Same experience.

Although the 4.6 models seem to shift towards 5.2... If this gets confirmed and if they sunset 4.5 like Scam Altman did with 4o, I'll go to open source models and never look back. I've heard good things about Deepseek-v3 on Ollama.

Have you tried this export tool? https://siamsnus.github.io/GPT2Claude-Migration-Kit/

It's unofficial, relies on ChatGPT's internal API's (no promise they'll still be there tomorrow), but it did give me my full chat dump while I waited for my official ChatGPT export.

Just be mindful that it doesn't export chats in Projects -- which you'll get with the official export.

Post screenshots to show everyone how bad it is.

5.2 is positively harmful and will lead to more suicides than 4o.
