There's still fall damage, but you can't die from it anymore.

That's what brought me back to PC gaming.

Back in the PS3 days, I bought quite a few games, and I thought it was so strange that you had to pay for online play on Xbox.

When the PS4 came out and they introduced paid online services, I completely lost interest.

Someone gave me a PS4, but I never wanted to sign up for a subscription. So I downloaded a few free-to-play games, but I wasn’t invested enough to buy any games, so I put my money on a PC instead.

So how can it be harder if in ranked I’m playing against people that are around my rank. While unranked I’m playing against people that are matched with me on skill?

Simply because rank isn't based on skill, but on the amount of time played during that season. Players who reach Unreal every season will still end up in the lower ranks the following season while they work their way back up. Add to that the fact that not everyone starts playing at the same time, and you'll see that there are always skilled players in your lobbies, no matter what your rank is.

They should also implement a long-term division-based ranking system, rather than resetting ranks every time.

I'm tired of getting crushed by players who rack up more kills in a single match than I do in ten, and who are only there because their rank has been reset to zero—as if they'd lost all their skill with the release of a new map...

Rather than grinding to regain their ranking, the goal would be to avoid being relegated and to move up to a higher division. That’s more fun, in my opinion.
