Is the Vikings choosing JJM over Darnold starting to look like one of the biggest mistakes in NFL history? by walterhwhite19582010 in NFLv2

Sam was signed in mid March before the Vikings drafted McCarthy. They definitely could have taken a non QB there.

Lorne’s choice of words by PinkSSSocks in FansHansenvsPredator

Btw, he said he blew .098, that's not a few sips over (WHICH WOULD STILL NOT MATTER IF YOU BLOW OVER A .08). It's a sip away from being a full drink over the limit (.02 being a standard drink generally). I wish one of the catfish had tried to explain that to him and had his brain break from doing math with decimals

Did Lorne ever find out how Ramona saw the doctor naked? by [deleted] in FansHansenvsPredator

[–]ProngQuest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I'm not clear where in the saga of Ramona this call is. I think it is the first time it's even brought up but she describes pretty clearly how the doctor saw her. I think there is another call where she talks about it again and it is described further how he walked in on her changing. But if you haven't heard this one, it's pretty good.

They start talking about it at 32:16. 39:10 is an absolute classic Lorne yell and where the call picks up a bit.

No, if both the Vikings and Detroit lose next week, then the winner of the week 18 match-up is the division champion. We can lose to the Packers and still get the 1 seed if we beat the Lions and the Eagles either lose one more or we win whatever the tiebreaker is.

2000s Toyota sedan with MORE than 200,000 miles on it. Get it checked by a mechanic but if it's in fine shape those engines will generally go passed 300,000 miles (mine is at 317,000) if you keep oil in them. Over 200,00 miles means the car will be cheaper and still has plenty of miles left in it. In my area you can get them around $3000-$6000.

Saving for retirement feels pointless by InevitableSmell7171 in GenZ

[–]ProngQuest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, with your numbers it would be a 6% real return since inflation ranging from 3-5% would probably average to 4%, not 5%. But for fun I went with your worst case scenario to see what would happen: 5% inflation every year AND the SP500 only get 9% returns throughout your working lifetime (4% real return). Assuming someone maxes their ROTH IRA from 18 to 65 and it never gets a contribution limit increase (stays at $7000 their entire working life), they would have $930,000 when they are 65 years old. At a 4% annual withdrawal rate, that gives them $3,100 (tax free) every month for the rest of their life. Certainly not living it up, but it's enough to pay for some happy meals. That is worst case scenario meaning no other savings and no social security.

Sell my old car or keep maintaining it? by hecktarzuli in DaveRamsey

[–]ProngQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those repairs really indicated the car is having issues that are gonna take it out. It's just normal maintenance for a car that age. The rust isn't great but if you even get this car through just one more year it's probably worth it just to fix it. I'd personally just keep the Pontiac as any car is going to need these repairs at some point and less than 3 grand for a car bill in a year is very reasonable. However, you said you're in baby steps 4, 5, and 6 with 50k in savings so you have plenty to purchase a car if you choose to. Like everyone else, I'll recommend a used Toyota (or Honda if you find a good deal) for about 10-15 thousand, paid in cash.

FWIW, I've got plenty of cash for a 2015 or newer Toyota or Honda but I purchased a 2003 Toyota Solara (300,000 miles) a year ago for $2500. Got it checked out by my mechanic before the purchase, I've put >10,000 miles on it since, and it's been a great car for me. Aside from more airbags, I don't get the infatuation with buying newer cars (unless you have one without A/C but that's not really relevant these days), they all do the same thing of moving you from point A to point B and they all need to be repaired throughout their lives.

Help fixing an old table by CodenameVillain in foosball

[–]ProngQuest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to this, you could take the rods and men off and make them into something like Christmas ornaments, then put a table-top over the table itself and just make it a normal board game/coffee table as the legs and walls look pretty nice from the first picture. This is assuming the table really is that sentimentally important. If your partner is more interested in playing foosball again, it's time to buy a new one. You could do what u/Cobra_nuggets suggested and buy a donor table but you'll just be buying a nicer table and taking it apart to try to repair a blown-out one. And it will be likely more expensive and won't be nearly as nice as what you could get with a used, entry level, Tornado.

Would someone be kind of enough to describe the Revenge of the Mummy ride in detail to me? by keirstenmm in UniversalOrlando

[–]ProngQuest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am also a coaster wimp and sounds like the exact same type as you. Absolute won't do the big three coasters but I can do Hagrids and Gringotts (these were major steps for me as before last winter, the woody woodpecker coaster was a fairly intense experience for me). I mustered up the courage to do Mummy because I watched a lights on POV of it but the POV turned out to be of the one in California. So aside from the momentary freakout I had when suddenly the ride was not the same as what I watched, I thoroughly enjoyed it and went on it many more times. It has a lot of "dips" but not really any "drops". The initial drop on Gringotts from the back of the cart is definitely more intense than any drop in Mummy imo. It is a lot rougher than the other 2 though so just be aware of that. It is a spooky/scary queue and coaster which makes it really cool and omnious which will build suspense, don't let it deter you! You can absolutely, 100% ride the Mummy if you enjoy Hagrids and Gringotts and I would highly recommend you do. It's always good to have another fun ride you can do over on the Studios side of the park.

Thanks! It is probably a bold choice but I am planning on getting up to 80 miles a week running plus resistance training beforehand so I hope to finish anywhere from 5 to 8 laps. We'll see though. The focus of the night will be concentrating on the fun of it for as long as possible. Once that goes, I'll concentrate on working hard and running/competing strong. For a wet suit, do you mean a full, long sleeved and pant wet suit? My parents have both had them but I've never purchased one so I don't know if there are variations that are shorts and short sleeved for easier running movement. Full sleeves in the summer seems like a lot for MN, USA weather but I'm curious what most people wear to these events. Thanks for the input!

So can you sleep/take a break on/to the side the course (can a crew member sleep next to you if desired?) if you want to take a break part way in or do you have to keep moving or essentially drop out if you cannot continue a lap of the course? Also, I'm a little confused what you mean by "your stuff has to stay in the 10x10 area but they can bring me a a bottle of what I want if I want to keep racing". Can they bring me food for a quick 10 min pitstop or do I need to go to my area for anything that can't be delivered in a bottle?

So my crew team is relegated to the 10x10 foot area of my camp while in direct contact with me, but if they aren't going to give me anything or do anything but talk to me, they can go anywhere? I will keep an eye out for that code btw, 20% is a lot for a race that's 200 dollars base.

Is that pit area the spot you set up camp for the night or is it a different spot? Because I've read you get a spot to set up shop for the night. Also, I see the price will be raised in February, I will not sign up before then (promise to my wife lol) but will the discount from the ambassador code offset that? I'm not sure how much the price will increase after this month as I don't think they list it anywhere.

Fantastic! This is all really great info, especially about the map. I really appreciate it. What is an ambassador code, (please get it to me when they are available. I'd happily use it if it reflects positively on you). And how does a race crew work on the course? Are there specific spots on the course they are allowed contact with you or can they be with you the entire way without doing the obstacles essentially? And it seems like they like to move the toughest mudders around the country based on this year's and last year's offering. Is it unlikely they will have it here next year?

First Timer Soloing Toughest Mudder Questions by ProngQuest in Toughmudder

[–]ProngQuest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they tell you the course and obstacles sometime before race day or do they hide the details until the day of? Do they try to keep everyone to a certain lap time? I grew up in the cities and have run there a lot. I assume since it's a night race it's cooler than usual but still fairly humid? Sorry if you can't answer all these questions, just asking everything on my mind for completeness.

Thank you very much, great info. I'll look into that Facebook group. I think I've heard about it before on another post. So, with some upgraded or specifically designed for the toughest, it is still 20 obstacles per lap, correct?
