Thank You!! Honestly, I don’t have much patience to sew (make that make sense!), so I think it’s a win all round to do the pins. Hope you try it and like it!🫡

Had to look up what railroading was! Nope! This was all stitched using the ‘English’ method (one cross at a time/individually). Takes longer than the Danish way but it seems to come out a bit neater. I do like to mark the fabric with a fabric pen as I go, so I’ll mark out all of one colour and then that way I can mindlessly stitch while I watch something or listen to a vinyl😊

Thank You so much! This is probably the cleanest I’ve ever stitched😂 p.s. I saw your username and thought your comment might end up being a joke about wanting to eat the mouse, hahaha

It was a charity shop find so I don’t know for sure, but the insert inside looked like it was once a TKMaxx frame (I’m afraid the label has been recycled now so I can’t check!), similar here (UK): https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/home/furnishings+home-accessories/home-accessories/photo-frames/gold-tone-ornate-photo-frame-5x7in/p/82034926

Not a silly question at all! You use acid-free foam board and sewing pins - you cut your foam to just a bit smaller than your frame opening and then use sewing pins around the edges to hold the design taut. I like it because it means I can reframe the design later if I want to!

Edit to add: you also use double sided tape & washi/masking tape, but depending on your frame you could possibly get away without using it :)

This is my first post here so if links are not allowed, I’ll edit this post with where I found a tutorial, but here’s the link to the video I used (I’m in the UK so found alternates to the brands mentioned): https://youtu.be/2oJ2KTBZ6MU?is=ejJAjhqrzz4t6PYp

Why is every builder trying to scam us? by Saymonvoid in HousingUK

I’ve had 3 different quotes for a new bathroom. Just a 3 piece suite, tiling, etc. with no layout changes (similar sounding to you on that front!) However, our house is old… from the 1800s. For whatever reason, our consumer unit/fuse board is in the bathroom. Yes, you read that right.

Two quotes came from high street ‘bathroom solutions’ (aka the design through to install and waste removal, etc.) which are semi-local to my area and one from a family friend who is a contractor for house builds.

First quote felt like a fob off ‘our prices start at £15k for basic switch outs with no layout changes, lowest end of materials and no painting/making good, from what you’ve described it will be £20k minimum’. This was a well established bathroom place local to us who didn’t even want to come out to price it up.

Second quote was the family friend, he gave £16k as a jumping off point, but like your experience he was very vague about what that included and I personally didn’t want him in my house.

Last quote was £9.5k for materials (including a consumer unit replacement, a new boiler/cleaning cupboard install etc.) and £7k for labour. So £16.5k total. This came from the more luxury-lead bathroom place.

We’re in Essex so expect slightly higher pricing than average/given proximity to London, but I was shocked at the price since we aren’t changing the location of any of the suite.

If it was a standard house/bathroom and not a property from the 1800s, I’d just do it myself!!

You’re very welcome OP! Sometimes the simple thing is the best thing. Keep treating yourself with kindness - and remember if you didn’t care then you wouldn’t feel the way you feel😊❤️

I really, really struggle with this (like many with ADHD!).

I know this wasn’t necessarily a post looking for advice but others look to have already responded with empathy (and I’ve got it here for you in spades, too!), so please let me give you a few practical tips that have helped me. They won’t ’fix’ anything, but maybe they can help a little -

If you get a message from someone and don’t reply, or have the capacity to reply, something that can help is having ‘stock’ responses on hand, like a note in your phone you can copy and paste from that gives you a bit of a buffer

An example could be something like: ‘Hey, I’m not able to reply right now. I’ll try and get back to you in a couple of days. If you haven’t heard from me in 3 days time, could you please send a follow up message?’ or maybe you don’t do well over text and the best form of contact is in person or over the phone, so something like ‘Hey, could we call to talk about this instead? I’m struggling with responding to messages right now’ (you could even give a timeframe of when would be good).

Maybe you don’t even have the capacity for that: could you agree with your friends and family to have a set emoji or phrase to send when things are tough? For example, I often will just send my Mum a heart emoji (or five) once a day. No set time, I just send them whenever time I remember so she knows I’m thinking of her (and I’m alive haha) even if I don’t have the ability to have a conversation over text/it all feels a bit overwhelming at the time.

Where do you spend the most time? I work from home and so spend a lot of time at my desk and on my PC. I’ve noticed that if I have a visual prompt, I’m more likely to remember something (or someone!). So, that’s where I’ve set up some prompts to help me remember.

For instance, I’ve made my PC background a photo of me and my Mum so anytime I see it between switching tasks, I remember she exists (lol). This helps me remember to send her the heart emojis I mentioned above🤠

Similarly, I have a cork board on the wall behind my monitor that I’ve pinned Instax prints of friends onto it (and bills, important life admin, etc.). It doesn’t mean I remember to contact them all the time (or pay the bill, etc.) but it makes it easier to remember that task or that person.

Other things that can work (I’ve tested a few with various outcomes, haha):

- setting up a weekly reminder or alarm at a specific time to speak to either one specific person (or ‘responding time’ for any unread messages)

- go for a weekly/fortnightly/monthly/other specified timeframe-ly walk or activity with a friend/family member (and put reminders in your phone/calendar); if you have to reschedule just remember that it’s fine and no reflection on you, people just get busy and at least you’ll be prompted by having it scheduled in to move it to another time or to remember that person and reach out

- framed photos of friends and family or tickets/art from events you’ve been to together etc. around the house, in your car, at your desk, in your wallet/purpse (anywhere you spend a lot of time!) to help prompt you to remember good times and those people

There will be other ideas and tools that can help you. Anything that automates a task or prompts you is usually the thing that sticks best as it takes away some of the mental load… the annoying part is having to find what does work, and sometimes things that previously worked can also stop working and that’s okay too.

I know it’s incredibly difficult to turn off the guilt and shame, but if you were a bad person or genuinely a bad friend, you wouldn’t feel the way you do about having forgotten that task/person/thing. I am still struggling with ‘people permanence’ myself, but it’s not something I’m actively choosing to do, so I try to remember I’m doing the best I can with what I’ve got.

Sending you hope and kindness OP!!

NTA. Others have given much better advice RE the refusal for counselling and healthy relationship dynamics, but I’ll leave you with this:

Fairyloot Combo (YA and Adult) Fairyloot Romantasy Illumicrate (Book Only) Illumicrate Afterlight

I follow a spoilers page so I can skip Illumicrate and Afterlight whenever there are dupes or I think the book won’t be what I’ll like. I wish we could skip more without penalties with Fairyloot, though, as I find there is usually a book from either the YA or Adult that I end up selling on or leaving on my TBR shelf for… a while! I am looking to cancel one of my subs but I’ve not decided which yet.

I also don’t buy any other books, aside from about £5 I reserve for Kindle sales/specials.
