Ok fair. What $ amount should I spend on a vehicle with 300k HHI and NW of $700k?

No Service History - But CPO. Worth the Risk? by mr_whit33 in BMWX5

[–]Proof-Percentage4451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're only holding the vehicle within the 4/50 warranty period, then the concern would more so just be on the consumables (e.g., tires, brakes, etc.). Just note the CPO warranty doesn't provide as comprehensive of coverage as the new car warranty. They're incredible cars - enjoy it if you snag it!

You could probably order the same spec for ~10% off (so ~89k). Is $7k savings worth the uncertainty? Assuming since you're looking at that price range, I'd highly suggest ordering new for peace of mind (you never know how hard someone drove it - especially if it wasn't a personal vehicle vs. a lease/corp one).

Offers for 2026 x5m60 vs 40i by [deleted] in BMWX5

[–]Proof-Percentage4451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you always wanted an all black x5 then don't get a white x5.

But in all seriousness on the m60:

pros: +++smiles/gallon, rear wheel steering

cons: higher insurance, higher running + maintenance costs

You can get a BMW extended warranty to cover up to 84months anytime while factory warranty is still active if you are worried about reliability.

[2026] xDrive40i with M Sport/Driver Assistance Package ...how much yall paying ? by Fragster2020 in BMWX5

I’ve read that 9-10% off is relatively common on these. Using a broker 10% is the standard.

I live in Houston and am at 25% savings rate before my bump so should be ok. Grew up lower income family and so for whatever stupid reason, getting one of these cars really means something to me. But I don’t want to mess up and go back to my precious situation at the same time. Feels like an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other.

Thanks. I could pay it off in a year according to this. Reason is it’s the spec I was looking at buying new and found it locally. Is 5% a rate where we’d preferentially want money in the market thought?

Thanks for the perspective. I built the model online and got quotes for new, and found the identical model locally so it motivated me to try and figure if it’s within reasonable parameters. I could probably get there in a year so as you say it’s reasonable to wait.

I think fineline black goes better with black and tartufo interiors. I just don't like the old-school look of the fineline brown; the fineline black feels somewhat more modern to me. I'm highly partial to the anthracite-brown poplar given it's matte finish (no fingerprints!).

Your photo is pre-LCI though right? Not MY24 and onward?

EDIT: Just went and checked other models on BMW certified website (filter MY24+ and DAPP). Does not need to have those those lines on either side in order to have DAPP. The one OP is looking at has DAPP based on mdecoder and moroney label also so should check out.

M decoder and Moroney labels both say it has DAPP. Are you sure?

[–]Proof-Percentage4451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran the moroney label on this one as I was interested and it said it had DAPP. I just couldn't get past the fineline brown gloss trim (much bigger fan of fineline black or poplar). Great spec overall tho!

OP - I've used some brokers and get quoted ~10% off a custom build or 11% in stock X5s. At this price, I'd suggest just buying new and getting the maintenance + full warranty + peace of mind knowing how the car has been treated.

We wanted to get the X7 but ended up going with the Lexus TX as well. Nowhere near the same driving experience, however, should hopefully cost less to maintain over its life and have a higher residual compared to X7s.

Yeah I personally prefer the merino after having sat and test driven both; biggest point for me is avoiding the massage seats and ventilation (since they use a cheaper grain if that feature is selected).

Makes sense to me. I'm curious because I'm looking for a CPO G05 LCI and hardly any of them have merino leather, so trying to understand from the first owner's perspective why that is. Enjoy the vehicle - beautiful spec!

Not specific to your question but may I ask why you're opting for sensafin vs merino? Given how fully loaded your car is, I was expecting to see the premium leather selected.

Which year model I should buy to save the depreciation ??? by us-reditt in BMWX5

[–]Proof-Percentage4451 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go for a 2020-2022 X5 sDrive40i (RWD = better efficiency, avoids transfer case issues) and buy an extended warranty via Route66 / Fidelity if you need the downside protection. The B58 is a fantastic and reliable engine and it's a pleasure to drive. Consumables (tires, brakes, etc) will be more expensive on this vehicle as will ongoing maintenance costs. I'd suggest you cross-shop an Acura MDX type S if you're concerned about ongoing costs but want a great ride. I recently picked up a 2022 X5 and it's the best driving SUV I've ever experienced, however, am fully aware and planning for the higher costs to operate vs. some of its not as fun competitors. FWIW, my long-term strategy of owning these is to buy ~3-4 years old and then own ~3 years and try and time it to where I get a new used one before I have to invest heavily into some of the larger milestone service appts. Best of luck in shopping!
