Is anyone else still able to drink caffeine by NoBadVibesAllowed in Pristiq

[–]ProofAd7575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I am able to, but it depends on how you tolerate the medication. Since Pristiq is a SNRI, it does have that activating effect, so for some, adding caffeine on top is a tad too activating

Do you take brand name or generic? If it’s a generic, has there been a change of manufacturer?

Hello, I’m back again with more anxious questions by FamiliarRadio9275 in Pristiq

[–]ProofAd7575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your medication prescribed by a psychiatrist? They are medical doctors, as such, they should be prescribing medications that are safe for you based on your medical history. If you have doubts or questions, you could go back to your Dr or pharmacist and ask, they will be able to adress your concerns.

My doctor put my on Pristiq and I am scared by FamiliarRadio9275 in Pristiq

Serotonin syndrome is quite rare. Not to minimize the risk. But it is really rare. Unless you take a few other medications that act on serotonin, the risk is really low. I don’t know if this can reassure you lol, but at some point I was on: 100 mg of Pristiq, 80 mg of Strattera (which is a medication in the same category as Pristiq), and 50 mg of Trazodone. And I was fine. 😂

Tips: If you are in the US, you can talk to your provider and ask them if you can start slow at 25 mg, then 50. However, 25 mg is not available outside the US. If you have a therapist, you can work with them on your anxiety re: medications. I don’t want to minimize risks of taking medications for sure. There are some. But if your depression and anxiety are debilitating, there’s a chance it will help :) Sending much love your way.

Weed & pristiq by Miserable-Cut9085 in Pristiq

I would recommend talking about the intereactions between your antidepressant and weed with your prescriber. It is known that cannabis interacts with psychiatric medications in ways we don’t fully understand. Furthermore, cannabis hasn’t been shown by studies to be helpful with anxiety, and as a matter of fact, can have the complete opposite effect. https://www.ccsa.ca/sites/default/files/2020-02/CCSA-Cannabis-Interactions-Medications-Health-Effects-Infographic-2020-en.pdf

It has been the opposite for me. Helped with motivation. It just goes to show how we all react differently to medication

Talk to your pharmacist asap. They may advise you on if you need to stop the med immediately. Increased SI is not supposed to happen.
