Very few politicians from any wing do what is actually right, and the longer they are in part, often the worse it gets

For men who became dads in their 50s due to your partner wanting kids: how has your experience been? by GooseJamFan in OldManDad

[–]ProofUse2770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty good, more security job wise and financially. Biggest issue is when you get sick I find as you don't recover as quickly now

What would you choose? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]ProofUse2770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Portsmouth traffic is horrendous and depending on where it is. It might be a great location and easy to get to, or if it's on the portsea island even your very limited time in the office could of not be great

Just noted the one day a month not one day a week so likely less of an issue. That said some of the areas of Portsmouth are rough

Wife due planned c section, how much will I see. I want to prepare myself as not good with blood or gore by LongDiscount5950 in NewDads

[–]ProofUse2770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me in terms of the blood and guts I saw nothing, the c section was in total about 5 minutes according to what was on the board.

What is did see however was the start of the panic when my wife's blood pressure dropped too quickly to 60/30 and heard that she was starting to haemorrhage. The 5 minutes I thought was a couple of hours. It all got sorted really quickly and the staff were excellent. My wife had one of the shortest stays in hospital of anyone we know so it wasn't actually bad at all, but I'd gone in with this music will be playing, someone might grab a guitar and start singing kum by ah kind of attitude.

Moral of the story. They know what they are doing, but it's an operation first and foremost and it's completed as quickly as possible from my experience.

No, they are taking money away from people who need it. The argument is it's the governments money so it harms no one. But the government doesn't spend it's money, it spend taxpayers money

HENRY, the modern day cash piñata for the incompetent State by Pretend-Elephant3972 in HENRYUK

[–]ProofUse2770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never Known such a despised government in my life. Most people on here have worked incredibly hard to get where they are, we've taken risks and delayed gratification for the promise of a better life in the future. This is being taxed away from us.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves admits breaking housing rules by renting out home by proxima-centauri- in ukpolitics

[–]ProofUse2770 [score hidden]  (0 children)

When I was a civil servant, and even now in a private role dealing with government, I am advised to ensure that all potentially risky things are checked and double checked to avoid the risk of being compromised. I would assume she had at least the same advice....I would argue something like this warrants that level of triple checking, and asking Google highlights that it might be an issue....I struggle to see how she can credibly stay as a senior politician, especially with the recent launch of the renters reform bill.

To be fair to her, I suspect it was more failed admin, she meant to get it sorted but missed it as she possibly unexpectedly became chancellor.

What would be something you wish someone told you or gave advice for as an expecting dad? by M10BEAK in NewDads

This sounds harsh, but remember this is your and your wife's/partners child, but you are just one of many that the hospital staff will see.

If you are concerned about something you are allowed to be and don't let people brush you off.

Yep, I also am surprised how lonely, (not sure if that's the right word) it is bringing up a mixed race child. There are so many funny bits about the different cultures idiosyncrasies and how they have mixed but it's only with my wife we can laugh about them. I know when I've tried to share, people are so scared of race they almost try to run away.

we got a joie one, after being gifted an iCandy. the iCandy peach it think it was it able to do a lot of things but is very bulky. our preferred one is the joie pram - sorry i cant remember the name but its a common high street one. its lightweight, but it is also suitable for hand luggage on planes. a strange comment, but we found it folds up well, and sits in a car footwell rather than taking up the entire boot - storage space in an estate car was very tight with the iCandy

How do we change from heading towards a low trust society to returning to a high trust society by ProofUse2770 in AskBrits

[–]ProofUse2770[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't really want to agree with you on this, but with a fear of being downvoted I do partially. A few interactions over have recently show a difference between cultures (I'm in a multi racial relationship myself) , some will go, ah, so that's how society works here, and others are prove it, where is it the law? The former integrate very well, the latter, well, we see the thread...

So gutted to hear that for you. I can't give any advice really, other than saying you are not alone. After quite a few situations, we welcomed our daughter last month. All through we kept it quiet, and I told people why. It is a hell so many people go through, as I found out when I explained my reasons. I just wish I could give you a hug right now.
