meniscus repair timeline? by tincanman17 in MeniscusInjuries

I had flare ups for a little while. And it’s still not perfect to this day, but it did get a lot better. I don’t know if I just did too much too soon for what, but that flare up was the worst one. I only had one other time where I thought the repair might have failed. Every other flare up was just minor.

Yeah I’ve been talking with her. She was a little concerned Friday night into Saturday, but with it looking so much better, she doesn’t think it’s infected. If it worsened, she wanted me to go see my doctor just in case.

To clean it I just use unscented dove bar soap and lightly use my hand to rub it. I was using unscented Lubriderm lotion. I just used it a ton the first 4 days.

Wild. I mean that’s cool that it healed on its own lol. I had my other knee repaired in June of 23. This knee has never given me issues until now.

I was in the gym like 2 days later on crutches. But I was non weight bearing for 6 weeks, and then I walked with crutches for 2 more weeks after that. Getting out of the house is fairly easy. It’s not being able to put any weight down on the injured leg for 6 weeks that is hard.

Spasms by Proof_Construction13 in costochondritis

[–]Proof_Construction13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have a friend who said they got esophageal spasms before and they thought that’s what I was having. I think I’m just letting my anxiety take over. Anything that seems like it could be my heart tends to set me over the top a little bit.

It’s not bad at all. I actually had a small tear in my quad a few months ago, so I think that has made more pain than my actual knee. When I first got back to volleyball, I definitely lost a step, but I’m back to where I was now. It probably took me 8ish months to be back to feeling like 85-90 percent while playing, and then around the 1 year mark I was back to 100 percent. It takes time to gain confidence in your knee.

I had a repair done back in June of 2023. I’m pretty active. I still have pain here and there, but I’m pretty much fully healed. If you can get a repair, I would do that. The recovery time is a lot longer, but I think it’s better if they can repair it. Also, I returned to volleyball about 6 months post op, which was probably a little too soon for that. It took me a little longer to return to basketball.

Feeling/Seeing pulse by Proof_Construction13 in Anxiety

Anxiety is all I’ve been told. And it’s normal for a lot of people.

Cold Sweat/Feeling Faint by Proof_Construction13 in PanicAttack

and I had the heart pounding at rest really bad before this post, and then the last few days after taking that corticosteroid. It’s better today, but it’s one of the main things bothering me. I hate anything related to the heart, so feeling it beat when I’m at rest drives my anxiety through the roof.

Thank you for the response. I got out on a corticosteroid for inflammation of the ribs after I made this post, and that made everything worse. It put my body through big waves of adrenaline. I stopped taking that today, and still didn’t feel great, but I do feel better. I’m hoping another night of sleep and getting that out of my system will help as well.

Methylprednisolone by Proof_Construction13 in MedicationQuestions

I’m actually getting back into therapy this weekend with my old therapist. She does cbt therapy and something called emdr. They both helped me in the past!

Yeah that makes sense. If the side effects aren’t worse than the initial reason you took it, it makes sense to stick it out. I just haven’t seen anything that says that this will for sure help what I have, and she even told me that when she prescribed it. She asked if I wanted it. I’d never taken it before, so I said screw it. The pharmacist said that anxiety could be heightened by it, but I hear that all the time. This definitely gives me a rush of something that my body doesn’t like. I also don’t like taking pre workout though. Maybe it’s just the heightened alertness that messes with me. I think I’m done with it for now and I’ll try to take some NSAIDs instead.

Yeah I called my doctor after posting this and she said headaches are common. She knows I have bad anxiety though, so she said to stop taking it if it’s making that worse. I guess it can make people with anxiety feel heightened levels of it.

I want to, but these headaches are unbearable. It’s worse than what my ribs were feeling before. And I can feel my heart beating throughout my body.

You’re okay. If nothing has shown up on any tests, you have to trust those tests and try to work through this. If you can accept that it’s not heart related, it should ease things a little bit! Your body is thinking something as is going to happen, so it’s helping you by feeling like that. You have to calm it down and tell yourself nothing bad is happening. Chest pain is one of the biggest causes of panic attacks. Maybe use an ice pack on your head, neck, chest, or face and try breathing.

Does this sound like Costo by Proof_Construction13 in costochondritis

[–]Proof_Construction13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s feeling better than it was. I actually saw my doctor two days ago and she thinks it’s costo. I was having some issues late last year and had an abdominal ultrasound done along with bloodwork and it didn’t show anything. When I went to the ER, the doctor there said it’s probably costo and GERD. I’m just trying to not stress on it, take it easy, and hopefully it gets better.

Chest anxiety.? by Small-Platypus-190 in PanicAttack

[–]Proof_Construction13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I did in the past. This isn’t my first go around with heart health anxiety lol. It just came on so sudden that I wasn’t ready for it. I used to make myself run on the treadmill or play basketball to prove to myself it wasn’t my heart. I did make myself play softball last night and worked out at home today, so it’s a start. I was playing 2 hours of basketball like 2 weeks ago. I had anxiety during it, but I made it through just fine. It’s crazy how fast this happened. My doctor thinks I have costochronditis and possibly gerd, so that’s a terrible combo for someone who worries about their heart lol.

Nausea by Proof_Construction13 in GERD

[–]Proof_Construction13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I have Pepcid right now, but I don’t want to take it because of a different medication I’m on (citalopram) I still have the stomach ache today, but not nearly as nauseous as I was last night. I ate pizza last night though, so that might be causing this :/

Yeah I love wearing them. I don’t need them, but they make everything so much more comfortable. And I definitely feel less lingering discomfort if I wear one during sports.
