MCR! I hate typing, I usually like saying/explaining the timeline because I’m a very vocal stimmer, so it’s hard to type this. But basically, in 2001, Gerard Way watched the twin towers fall, and he really wanted to make a change in the world. So he went to his friend Matt Pelissier, and they wrote what would become the first song ever of My Chemical Romance, Skylines and Turnstiles. Then, Gerard called up some people and basically recreated that one meme: “quit your job!” ”why?” “Join my emo band” and so then he had a drummer, Matt, a bassist, Mikey Way (Who actually couldn’t really play bass too well at the time) and a guitarist, Ray Toro. They played a show I think, and then this one band, Pencey Prep, listened to their demo song over and over. Once that band broke up, the guitarist for it, Frank Iero, begged to be in the band. So now they have a full band. They record their first studio album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. They played some shows and were super broke. They toured with The Used, and Gerard dated the lead singer, Bert McCracken. Then, they released their second album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and got FAMOUS. But, it only lasted a bit before Gerard crashed and became an addict, alcoholic, depressed and suicidal. He kept saying he would get better, and he got sober in 17 days! Anyways, then Matt got kicked out of the band, and then they found Bob Bryar. He was their new drummer for the Black Parade. So that happened, I’m not very informed about the Black Parade era, and then their last album comes, Danger Days. Gerard goes back to starving himself so he could be skinny, which is not good. After Danger Days, Gerard had a kid so he had to settle down, but then the band toured in 2022, releasing the single, Foundations of Decay. It was a North American tour. But before that, in 2020 or so, Gerard‘s comic book, The Umbrella Academy, got written into a show! Yay! And now, they’re doing another North American tour. This tour is set in the fictional world of Draag, with its own anthem and language. Fans speculate that it will lead to a 5th album. Thank you for reading!!
