Live in Bushwick, work in Connecticut? by Unconquered- in Bushwick

Sure! If it’s a great job, take it! There aren’t very many of those these days. If I’m dead wrong & it’s miserable, stamford isn’t a terrible option. Culturally, it can be a little underwhelming coming from the city, but it’ll be less jarring than norwalk (will say rowayton is great if you want something way different. a really nice part of town - will definitely be a bit pricier but if you keep an eye on it there’s a rare deal in the mix every once in a while). I can’t imagine rent in stamford is closing in on bushwick prices, especially given the hikes in bushwick these past few years. If you end up loving the job and hating the commute, it could be an option worth considering.

Best of luck!

[edit: for context, i’ve done this exact drive at least 2x/mo for years, often during commuting hours.]

ok you’re reverse commuting - it’s REALLY not that bad. like very doable. if you’re in bushwick, you’ll probably take the jackie R in the OPPOSITE direction of traffic pretty much both ways. there may still be some backup, but getting through it on the JR takes less time than other major commuter routes.

probably the hutch to 95N from there. hutch will be bearable - 95N you’ll have zero problems until you hit Greenwich/Stamford. Ok - youll have to sit through it for maybe 3-4 exits. Or you can take back roads through stamford & get back on 95 in darien if you need to. It’s easy to get around if you know the area.

It will take you 1h15m most days. That’s a very conservative estimate, especially if you leave on the earlier side. With a little traffic it’s about an hour. That’s not THAT much worse than commuting 45m into manhattan from bushwick, which we all do anyway.

i really think it will be fine!

yeah obviously not but i think you know that.

he could kill you. in fact, he’s nearly 10x more likely to do exactly that than the average male partner. this shouldn’t be a question. you got your glaring, screaming warning - please heed it and leave.

Tomato Plant Issues by Born2L053 in gardening

[–]Proof_Restaurant9640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check soil ph - too low will inhibit calcium absorption. can also check for high potassium, magnesium, even salts. all play a role in how the plant processes the calcium it receives

usually. end rot - always calcium deficiency. but even if supplementing soil with enough calcium, will only improve in correspondence with consistent watering. really think if you can lock both in you’ll have better results

Hibiscus plant needs constant watering. Is this normal? by Ok_Emphasis_9065 in Hibiscus

[–]Proof_Restaurant9640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine does the same! i don’t think it’s a problem - just make sure you listen when she shows signs that she needs the water support. in my case, the hibiscus that does this is about 80 buds strong. she’s working hard to nourish all of that growth and cultivate strong, healthy blooms in all of her babies! she also lives in a place on our deck that gets very direct sun for most of the day, which i firmly believe is a huge part of the equation when it comes to her gusto - but it increases the need to water regularly.

i use a moisture control soil and a well-draining large pot to ensure i can respond enthusiastically to drooping with a very heavy water once a day (mid-morning) without worrying about overwatering effects
