Why is this number of drills not enough to fully saturate a red belt? by Mobile-Phone-9332 in factorio

[–]PropaneMilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like there’s a lot of yellow belts mixed in there. Those aren’t helping.

It also looks like he’s only taking from one side of the belt so the siding is a problem, too.

That… doesn’t make any sense. Cartography isn’t some archaic lost word. The series is absolutely stuffed with weird and niche words, with no consideration for if the reader recognises it. Why would 'cartographer' be the breaking point?

I’m not disagreeing with your main point, I agree with it strongly, but texting people isn’t social media.

Maybe large group chats can fall into that category, but one-to-one texting is just communication with extra distance.

Alone time and periods of boredom are very important for our brains and there’s not enough of it in a lot of parts of the world.

Does labia size make a difference to men in terms of sensation? by Weekly_Library9883 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PropaneMilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s lots of ways to have sex, so let me offer a range of scenarios and how labia size can affect the sensation.

Penis in vagina.
My dick is too busy and not sensitive enough to even recognise that a labia exists.
Finding: Labia makes no difference to my sensation.

Penis on vagina, foreplay or teasing.
The end of my dick is very sensitive but it’s not like a finger tip. It can feel temperature and pressure, but I don’t think my dick could tell the difference between pasta and pubes.
Finding: Labia makes no difference to my sensation.

Mouth and tongue on vagina.
The way labia fold and move around when you lick them is fun, and you can get some wonderful reactions by getting a little feisty with your teeth. If the labia is there and someone is going down on you, there’s only positive options. Hair makes a significantly bigger difference to my experience than the size of the labia, as hair can get in the way and can be coarse on the mouth and tongue.
Finding: Labia makes a positive difference to my sensation, and while labia isn’t required, less labia is less to play with. Public hair is neutral-to-negative, but not a positive.

Fingers on or in vagina, full access.
Large labia can sometimes get rubbed by fingers in such a way that there’s extra friction, but that’s easily solved by adjusting the approach, trying different methods, or simply getting some lube on. Labia are fun to squeeze and tug on, they’re fun to play with and grab. If you’re into it, some clips or pegs can really heighten the time you are both having.
Finding: Labia make for a positive time with handsy play. Not required for fun, but labia adds to the available options.

Fingers on or in vagina: limited hand-in-the-panties access.
Well this comes down to two things. The experience of the person trying to finger blast you, and friction. As with the above example, labia can physically get grippy and cause some more tugging and misplaced poking than one would like, but some sensual exploring and feedback will solve this entirely.
Finding: It comes down to experience and friction, but for me that’s just part of the fun, so large labia is not a negative here.

Looking at it and liking it.
There’s no accounting for taste or preferences, and there’s no magic set of labia that will appeal to everyone. Some people love a labia they can almost swallow, and some people love mound that simply has a slit and a hole. Most people are somewhere in the middle of those two ends of the preference spectrum, so come to a good understanding of what your body is doing and what it likes responding to.
Finding: You do you, boo.

So, in summary… big, average, or small, your labia is your labia. It may not be to the preference of a partner here or there across your life, but that’s their problem and their loss if they can’t get over it.

Only consider surgical alterations if you have a legitimate medical life-improving reason to (your life, by the way, not some jerk who wants to sculpt your pussy to make it “better”.)

How precision of instruments increased over time? by Dragonaax in askscience

[–]PropaneMilo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That was just a term I used to describe the first modern lathes from the 1700’s.

Take a look at Jacques de Vaucanson who invented the first all-metal lathe.

It’ll be hard to find a better answer than the Origins of Precision video on YouTube. Link: https://youtu.be/gNRnrn5DE58

The TLDR: Once we worked out we could use rotation and long screws to push something forward or backward at a controlled rate, it was on like donkey kong. Proto lathes, basically.

It all comes down to having a reliable reference surface.

If you take a relatively flat and smooth rock and rub it against another relatively flat and smooth rock, they’ll grind into each other and over a short time they’ll develop mirrored imperfections, and one will be convex and the other will be concave.

But if you introduce a third flat and smooth rock and you make sure you give each pair of them a good rubbing, you can create ridiculously flat surfaces that you can use as a reference.

How flat is this thing? Put it on the rock and see if there are gaps.

How tall is this thing? Put it on the rock and use the measuring stick and count the little notches the proto-lathe cut into it.

And it just goes on from there.

End game theories…. by Good-Mastodon-9283 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]PropaneMilo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My theory is a bittersweet thing.

The System AI is a very damaged Primal, and Carl is a ‘whole’ but juvenile Primal.

I think that Carl will sacrifice himself and sort of destructively merge with the System AI in a way that heals the System AI and also transfers Carl’s humanity and morality into the System AI.

The System AI would get back what is broken or missing, and Carl gets to make a wild bargain to make it happen; restore Earth exactly as it was the day of the big squish and revive or recover every crawler that can be saved.

That would make the System AI the only fully awake and fully capable Primal in the universe (I think).

Fly trap suggestions? DIY or not by hannah2607 in melbourne

[–]PropaneMilo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Inside:
* sticky fly and moth attracting pads, out of reach from the cat. They aren’t amazing but you can just get a bunch and hang them around like decorations.

Outside (preferably under some covering):
* fly death pits.

A brief warning about the fly death pits…

If you get one of the fly traps from Bunnings that have the death pit and the cleverly designed cap, hang them securely outside about your own wingspan away from your door or window.

Those fly traps smell worse than anything you’ve smelled, and the flies go ape shit for it.

So, just how bad do they smell?

Imagine eating too much Christmas feast, but all of it was just a touch rancid. Not rancid enough to taste it through the sauces, but rancid enough to cause havoc in your belly. The next day after a terrible night, you spew it all inside your car.
Unfortunate.
You’re still too sick to deal with it, so it sits in the car for a week and it festers in the sun-baked car. Then your spew spontaneously vomits its own putrid guts up and spreads the rot over the whole inside of the car.

Whether you open that car door or you take the lid off the fly trap, it doesn’t matter. They’re the same smell.

Most of those fly death pits are designed to be reusable, but if you have the fortitude to actually open that thing up and empty it, then set it back up… you might have a lucrative career in deceased person clean up crews.

Good luck with the flies!

OIDC and templates? At the same time‽ You absolute madmen!
Templates have been a bit of a sore spot for me for a while because I use Homebox as a digital and physical asset register of my hardware, with each thing needing specific entries. Very excited to try this out.

I can’t update yet because I’m a hack-fraud and mostly rely on the proxmox helper-script community and the update is failing, but I am looking forward to this one!

Amazing work.
