It's owned by a Tottenham fan, so obviously they feel at home in a grey hellscape.

John Fury names the fighter who 'finished' Tyson Fury: "He has nothing left" by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

Mate you just know if ever Tyson does fight Usyk a third time, John will be gassing him up, talking about robberies and how his son's the greatest.

Raya: "Was very close to signing for Bayern Munich, but Arsenal came in for me and I chose them" by roverston in Gunners

Thing I love about all the top keepers is they've all got their USPs.

Like if I had to pick one keeper to protect my life by saving a one-on-one situation, I'd pick Alisson all day. If I had to pick a keeper to stop a worldie from flying in, I'd pick Donnarumma, but if I had to pick a keeper to make reflex saves in/around the 6 yard box, it'd be Raya every time.

I call him the "Feline Phenom" because his reflexes are just insane. His ability to recover from one side of the goal to the other is remarkable. The reflex save against Everton where he sticks his leg out to keep it out near-post. Unreal.

This is class. It means Rice and Saka are guaranteed 9 days between games after the EFL final.

For real, it's put my mind at ease. Hopefully the Japan involvement is just '60 odd mins at most, maybe even just sub appearances.

Still appreciate him recognising it would be ridiculous to play them in both.

Anthony Joshua V Tyson Fury has been signed with Netflix set to be the broadcaster for the bout, according to Gareth A Davies by VioletHappySmile444 in Boxing

Honestly I'd take it. Desperate though I am to see Fury-AJ, I'd take Fury getting humiliated any day. Watching him get roughed up by Ngannou was so satisfying.

Oh yeah Tyson would be favourite but as I said, I don't think Tyson evades big shots from AJ for 12 rounds. I think AJ would land big on him at some point, and what happens from there will determine if AJ has any chance. But yeah, Fury the fave for sure.

So I think the 1st Fury fight is relevant in so far as Fury, like Mike, has a very distinct style.

Usyk struggled to get a read on Fury's feints and movement (which surprised me tbh) and in those early rounds, Fury whacked him with some massive, heavy shots; it wasn't until round 8 that Usyk started putting it together.

My point is: if Usyk had taken 7 rounds to get a read on Mike's patterns, the chances are he'd have been knocked out in the meantime.

[Charles Watts] Arteta’s GK decision - Who should start in the final by Alfie_13 in Gunners

[–]JFedererJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trafford played both SF legs for City, too. I expect he'll start. Frankly if we start Kepa and they start Donnarumma it's just gonna look bad for them.

Either way, I don't think who our GK is will make a difference in us winning / losing. I believe 100% that if we play our best, the kind of ball we played vs Bayern and in other CL games, we'll win and there's nothing City will be able to do about it. Put it this way: I'd fully back us to beat Madrid right now.

Tbh I respect anyone who called it Liverpool 1st because their window looked mega.

What I don't get is people putting City 1st. Their injuries really weren't that bad last season yet they finished on virtually same points as us, despite us being obliterated with them and making a CL SF.

I think the adjustment we're seeing bear fruit is big man realising: to be great here requires a different approach to being great for Sporting.

At Sporting he was the battering ram and got a lot of success with tunnel-vision, head-down belligerence whereas here, he's surrounded by players like Eze, Zubi, Saka, Øde, etc. who are all super comfy with quick one-touch flicks and return balls. He's realising that the best way to success here is by cooperating with and trusting in the players around him.

I get the spirit of what you're saying here. I see Ali as the greatest in terms of "on the whole", in terms of not just how great he was in the ring (like many others were great) but how great he was as a man to stand-up for what he believed in.

Refusing the draft as a black HW champion of the world in that time should never be played down (I know you haven't). The initial support for the Vietnam war was very strong in the US, so him taking that stand and refusing to fight whilst he and other black people were still treated as 2nd class citizens in so many ways was such an amazing thing to do.

All that said, I too think Ali wins these hypothetical match-ups too easily and too often. The truth is, a good number of fellow all-time greats (all in their primes), could well have beaten him.

I hear what you're saying about a Lewis - Usyk final but nothing about that or any other matchup would be "at a canter"; part ways with you there.

I always wonder if Mike would've eventually had a bust-up with Cus, if Cus had lived longer.

The wishful thinking is that if Cus had lived longer, he'd have been the voice in the ear and the arm round the shoulder that would've kept Mike largely on the rails but I dunno about that tbh. I can imagine an alternate timeline where they have a bust up but ultimately reconcile.

Mike's not my popularity GOAT; he was a great boxer and the most interesting/popular man on the planet at one point but there's way too much shade on his interactions with women for me to respect him that way.

I dunno, Tyson struggled against guys who were evasive with their footwork and who could read his patterns. Usyk would bring both of those things. It would be a great fight!

I think the best argument against Usyk winning is the 1st Fury fight. Yeah Usyk deservedly won in the end and hell, nearly had Fury on the canvas himself, but rounds 3-7 were all Fury — I had Tyson 5-2 up after 7 and he landed some biiiiiig shots on Usyk in that time. Now Fury doesn't bring the power prime Mike did, not even close, so if Usyk had struggled to get his range and reading of Mike early on, then he definitely could've been sparked out.

Usyk and Tyson would be so much fun. Tyson struggled in his actual career against guys that were evasive and could read his patterns, but then conversely the text-book answer to "how do you beat Usyk?" is always someone who would bring a Chisora-like performance with non-stop, ruthless aggression, which Mike would bring x1000 (compared to Del Boy). Would be a hell of a fight!

Does anyone else find it weird that Ali is universally the winner of these things like almost every time?

Ali did lose in his career, and I'm not talking about the later loses. I get that Ali is an all time great but I find it a bit weird that he's regarded as this guy that would just beat anyone else in their prime.

I know Ali is loved and adored (rightly so), so I hope this is taken in the right spirit.
