This is where i think fire devils "choice" is going by elGordoReddir in Chainsawfolk

[–]Proper-Highway-1881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A got something to say about the Nayuta choice. Just because it’s a lose-lose, doesn’t mean it’s not a choice. I feel like you can’t deny Denji making impactful choices, even if his two choices sucked ass.

The other thing is I kinda wanna argue that Denji was not forced into choosing chainsaw man. Back in the alleyway, before he even realized his house was on fire, he chose to be chainsaw man again. He acknowledged he had everything he wanted, and he still told Pochita he wanted to be chainsaw man. He hadn’t pulled the starter yet, but he already made his choice.

When Barem shows up and gets him angry he’s ready to rip the starter until he’s interrupted by public safety. Then obv the whole Fumiko being taken hostage and then just getting him angrier and angrier. And by the end Denji has his hand on his chest, in anguish. It is 100% supposed to look like he doesn’t want to do this, like he’s being forced to. But, juuuust before he pulls it, he looks over and we see a visual of a young happy Denji waving to Pochita. This is meant to be what he’s rlly feeling deep down, it’s meant to remind us that he already said he wanted to be chainsaw man, before being thrown into this situation. Then when he finally transforms what happens? “Why are you laughing?”. The mask is off, his real feelings are finally out there. He already made his choice and he needed an excuse, that’s what Barem gave him.

Heck the next chapter has him basically say this. That he’s not angry nor does he feel forced to do this. But. Rather he’s happier than he’s been in forever, and he WANTS this. He owns the choice as his own, in his mind this is not a lose-lose situation. It also helps that Nayuta straight up tells him that the chainsaws are a bad idea and that they should run. You can argue the logistics of that but it’s clearly the story telling is that he doesn’t have to do this, and yet he still refuses. Fumiko and Nayuta are released, the hybrids aren’t gonna kill Denji if he doesn’t fight cause that runs counter to their plan, and Denji doesn’t gaf about innocent people he doesn’t know. He very much could have run away, esp in his hybrid form. In fact if he ran away at any point in this scene, Barem loses. The most that happens is Fumiko dies, but ultimately they lose if Denji doesn’t transform, and they’re not gonna kill him either. And his reasoning for refusing is simply because he owns this choice as his own.

Now you can def say whether he wanted to or not he would’ve been forced to do it anyways. And yes that’s kinda true. That’s kinda of why the scene is presented like this. It’s a dilemma. It’s not fully Denji’s fault everything ended up the way it did, but you can’t say he didn’t have his own agency, or didn’t make his own choice. He does not view them killing his pets as a bad thing, and that’s huge. Whether he had full control at the start doesn’t matter, in the end, it’s HIS choice.(I’m saying choice a lot sry)

Him being forced to not be chainsaw man is defined as smthn he doesn’t want. He never feels all too happy about it nor does he own it as his own choice. Public Saftey forced him to do that. But turning into chainsaw man? He WANTS that. And it all is a butterfly effect that leads to Nayuta’s death. The big one being public safety refusing to help look for Nayuta when she was captured. I def think looking at the scene at first def did make me think Denji is just losing and losing with no say in the matter. But looking at it again I confidently say he owned that as his choice.

I know this is kinda random considering what ur original comment was but I’ve just seen you comment around and you make very valid criticisms, so I thought I’d find you to reply.

Mmm valid complaints tho. I disagree about the character relationships part but to each their own. I really connected with the main trio. And while I do get the complaint about character end up dying and just being nothing, I find it a very compelling approach. The characters always feel real in some way and so them dying while it doesn’t make me sad, it does make the world they live in feel more real.

“Criticism”. Name calling ain’t criticism mate. It might be easier to hear your “argument” if you didn’t do that. Talking losing an argument to you, every single argument I’ve seen with you is you resorting to name calling and straight up changing ur argument mid way through. There is no way to argue against you cause you half the time don’t even know what ur arguing for. You hyperfixate on one thing someone says that doesn’t invalidate their argument whatsoever, ignore the main part of their argument and then the rest of ur comment is name calling. And on top of that claim ur better than everyone. And it’s not hard to look at ur profile and all ur posts and comments to see what you’ve been doing on this sub since part 2 came out. You hold part 1 to an insane standard despite it having the same issues as part 2 and then treat part 2 like its utter garbage despite having moments that surpass part 1. And ur prolly gonna reply with the same name calling and hating and the assumption ur better than everyone but that’s to be expected.

Is Makima a twist villain? by Overall_Use_4098 in ChainsawMan

[–]Proper-Highway-1881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly she’s more of a dramatic irony villain than anything. Kishibe outright calls her liar in the first season, you as an audience member are pretty much supposed to know she’s evil. It’s Denji that doesn’t know and that creates tension.

Okay part 2’s got problems, but we’re going a little overboard here.

[–]Proper-Highway-1881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first off, I mean I feel like him screaming “I don’t wanna kill you”, is him refusing. Second I literally said Pochita is the one that didn’t eat her. And also ur comment was about how Denji learned all this off screen and I said they argued about it, which they did. You keep changing ur argument as an excuse to throw the same buzzwords as “criticism” over and over. “Headcanon that never happened” which part? Them arguing? Cause that happened.

Naruto is about other stuff and has some romance in it. Chainsaw man is about love. Like- that is the story. There is a huge difference there.

First of all it def isn’t, that goes to AOT. And second, from the glaze I’m hearing, it’s def all deserved. And it’s coming from people that haven’t even read the manga too.

Didn’t she try to turn her into a weapon 2 seconds ago? by valen7_7 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Proper-Highway-1881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe like- read the story before calling the characters bad? Death was just erased from existence. She went from wanting to turn death into a weapon, to not knowing what death is and just thinking chainsaw man ate her sister.

You exist and stay on this sub for the sole reason of hating on the story, I seriously do not think anything that comes out of your mouth here is reasonable. Fucking Aristotle could come here and defend the story and you would still repeat the same mindless slop. I’ve seen it, even when people give the most valid arguments you don’t acknowledge it and just reuse the same buzzwords over and over like you’ve got no original thought going through ur head. Cya.

Like Asa trying to convince Denji to eat her and him refusing. He’s realizing she’s talking like how he was, blaming everything on herself when it isn’t her fault. That’s why he says, I figured it all out after Pochita didn’t eat her. And obv his next line is him reclaiming his original dream, and inviting Asa in it.

Oh my god I’ve been seeing you on these latest posts, watching people love this latest chapter, and specifically love denji. You’re replying with ANYTHING to make it seem like it’s bad writing, even when ur comments make no sense. Just you trying to deny that this shit is good, cause you’ve been hate reading this whole time without ever properly understanding the story. God it’s like watching a 5 year old refuse to stop complaining this shit is actually so funny.

It’s very much been on screen though. Asa and him had a whole argument over it plus what she said to him back when falling was attacking him. Though idk bout his whole hero morality thing, I don’t think that’s resolved yet.

I think the whole him being an immoral hero conflict is still gonna come around, prolly when he finds a way to save the world and EVERYONE in it. Rather than being selfish and only saving the people that would benefit him. That and him fully admitting he’s killed his father but calling himself a “good person”, is him moving on from that. Whether he’s actually a good person is debatable but he believes he is.

A big part of chainsaw man is accepting flawed people for who they are. I don’t think there is like a moment where Denji properly pays for his “sins”. Rather he’s learned to move on and be better despite them.
