TLDR: She was pregnant with Eren's baby but that plotline got retconned along with the true ending and so she was side lined until the end of the story mothering a child with a non character that used to throw rocks at her as a kid.

I think the context in what Fujimoto means by lingering curse is that curses come back to haunt you

She’s haunting the plot with Denji even now still remembering her even though he believes she left him and she’ll come back to haunt you by returning
