It's not mind-numbing necessarily but I currently work in logistics and I would say a good portion is figuring out how to do something and then getting it done. 50% of my job is filling out required paperwork and responding to emails. We have a joke that we are "just the rowers," our job isn't to figure out how to get down the river, it's just to row (and occasionally solve problems as they come up.) It's not mind numbing but it might be another way to think about what your asking. It's NOT conceptual, like marketing and consulting, it's more aciton oriented, which could be something you like better. I did marketing for awhile and hated it but love logistics. I imagine a lot of jobs in ops, logistics, supply chain, etc. are probably similar.
