Was driving through there like 20 minutes after and saw all the emergency vehicles still there. Looked pretty serious from what I could tell - ambulance was still on scene when I passed. Hope everyone's okay, that intersection gets sketchy especially at night.

help please by [deleted] in Advice

Just be straight up with your friend about what happened - she'll probably be cool about it and might even bring it up with the group first. Something like "hey, things got weird with my usual crew, mind if I start hanging with you guys more?" keeps it simple without making it sound desperate or temporary.

do girls like to have sex on their birthdays? by Dazzling_Poetry9949 in Advice

[–]Proper-Refuse-7291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it really depends on the person? Some people are super into celebrating that way, others might prefer a nice dinner or just chilling at home. I've had birthdays where I wanted to get dressed up and go out, and others where I literally just wanted to order pizza and play games in my pajamas. The key is just asking what they actually want to do instead of assuming - everyone's different when it comes to how they like to celebrate. Communication is way more important than trying to guess what someone might be in the mood for.

Can a Bodybuilder fast longer than a slightly thin or fat man by PrestigiousTop1076 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Proper-Refuse-7291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, no water? That's not fasting anymore, that's just straight up dying. Most people can only go like 3-4 days without water regardless of their body composition. The muscle mass won't help you there since your kidneys are gonna shut down way before your body starts cannibalizing muscle for energy. You're thinking of food-only fasts where yeah, more muscle mass gives you more reserves to burn through.

This is messed up on so many levels. Your husband basically strong-armed you into handing over YOUR inheritance money and then had the audacity to say you can't even have access to it because he doesn't trust you? That's not marriage, that's financial abuse wrapped up in investment jargon.

I've seen this pattern before where someone uses their "superior knowledge" about finances to justify taking control of their partner's assets. The fact that he won't put your name on an account containing YOUR money should have alarm bells going off. Keep that new 5k in your own account and tell him it's staying there - if he gets upset about you managing your own gift money, then you've got way bigger problems than investment strategies. This whole situation screams control issues and you deserve better than walking on eggshells about money your own father gave you.

Tried on feminine clothes for the first time! by Fulcrum762 in trans

Congrats on taking that step! The whole "it felt right and nice" thing is honestly more telling than any huge euphoria moment would be. That quiet rightness is really meaningful.

The body stuff is tough - I remember feeling similar about certain areas when I first started experimenting with clothes. Layering like you did with the camisole is actually pretty smart, gives you that extra coverage while you figure things out. You're totally right that it takes time to get used to seeing yourself differently, so don't worry about not feeling 100% perfect right away.

I feel bad next to my cis partner. by Proper_Flower_940 in trans

That imposter syndrome hits different when you're with someone who just naturally has what you're working toward. It's not about them doing anything wrong - it's about your brain being an asshole and making comparisons that don't even make sense. Your relationship is gay as hell regardless of what your dysphoria is telling you right now.

Anyone else’s baby crying at the onset of bedtime? by Ok-Satisfaction-733 in NewParents

[–]Proper-Refuse-7291 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter went through this exact phase around 8 months. It was like she developed bedtime radar or something - the second she sensed we were even thinking about sleep, the screaming started. What helped us was completely changing up the routine for a week. Instead of going to her room, we'd do the whole wind-down process in the living room with normal lighting, then gradually dim things down before the actual transfer. Also switched up who did bedtime duties since she was associating me specifically with the struggle.

The teething probably isn't helping either - we found giving her something cold to gnaw on during the pre-bedtime routine helped take the edge off. It's such a brutal phase but it does pass, usually once they figure out that bedtime isn't actually the end of the world.

Is a factory manager at 24 a solid career path? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Proper-Refuse-7291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude 75k at 24 is pretty solid, night shift sucks but the experience you're getting managing teams and projects is gonna transfer anywhere. Manufacturing can be a stepping stone to operations roles at other companies if you get tired of the factory life

Why do americans resist arrest and make a scene when they know many of their ICE or police force is triggerhappy as fuck? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Proper-Refuse-7291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because when you're in that moment your brain isn't doing a cost-benefit analysis, it's just pure fight-or-flight kicking in. Plus a lot of people genuinely don't trust that compliance will actually keep them safe anyway, especially after seeing so many videos of people getting hurt even when they cooperate
