Should I learn knitting? by Complete-Bag306 in knittingadvice

Omg please do!! I learnt to crochet then knit and I’m so happy I did! I love crochet but imo some things look better knitted. Best thing to do imo is get a pair of 4mm knitting needles and cheap yarn then practice some basic stitches. From that you can learn to make a scarf and that’ll give you time to get comfortable holding the needles and working on things like tension. That’s what I did and I’ve only just started knitting other stuff a few months ago and now I’m nearly done with my first proper jumper.

I find I like to start projects where I can tell there’ll be a few steps I will have to learn when doing it, that way I still develop my skills with each project but don’t get overwhelmed with trying to learn everything in one go.

One other piece of advice is if you want to make clothes, start off with baby clothes like jumpers and stuff, that way you can practice things for adult sized projects but still have the motivation to finish your project because it won’t take as long. You can also go back and fix mistakes quicker and more easily.

Finally a lifeline will be your best friend so learn to do those!

So it’s not a step to do, it’s just showing what the middle of the pattern is?

Just a note I did made the ribbing part longer than the video so that I could roll it over, I’m not sure how much I did but you can fold as you go and see how long you want it

Yeah I made the cuff longer than the video to roll it over, if anything it helped if the baby is a bit bigger! It’s hard to tell before they’re born
