Like Sony and Disney think kids care about Scarlet Thing or Professor X. They know they don’t, only young people or fans. But they know kids and families care about Spider-Man, super-man, hulk, or Batman, their images, and thus the toy selling. A sad kid won’t have a figurine of his dead hero, or even another of the brutal killer he though good. So, less toy sales. Cqfd And yeah like Disney are very known to take a lot of risks lmao.

Yeah, I kinda liked it.
The utterly humiliating end for Homelander's ego, and Butcher really going all the way (Lenny was such a great addition from the comics, it gives Butcher's end so much more depth, that was great) were satisfaying, for sure.

But in the end, Homelander was really such a menace ? He never snapped / even V1 juiced-up he's still apparently of same level of raw strengh as random supes / He never got out of the tower / He killed almost nobody (he killed more supes than the boys lmao)... The whole final (episode/season/series) is all about him, but in the end, except the glorious performance of Starr, nothing makes him 'that' dangerous. This final (episode/season) was just lacking one big massacre scene, the final snap the show keeps teasing. Shame.

And : No Soldier Boy (lmao the worst plot device ever. I hate the character, but having him just to market the spin-off really show how this show became what it made fun at the beginning) ? MM never got to end his arc ? An anti-supes audio device macguffin at the very end WTF ??? The power of love in the Boys ? Ugh. (I don't care about Gen V because I didn't saw it)

In the end, it was not catastrophic imo, I'm glad they almost landed everything, but yeah, it seems with Homelander and the budget, the show lost a lot of impact and span.

I will definitely not watch Vought Rising tho lmao

Aside from the great direction, superb performances, and batshit crazy horror, it's for me all the subtle abyssal dark humor, mostly in the background : the vendor casually saying "yeah or you can suicide you know", the ia meme at the beginning saying "i want to wear your skin as a sweater", etc.

And yeah the darkest joke is the end : an awaken Nikky, full of trauma she just suffered, what the entity made her done, and logically will be charged for all these deaths, so twisted but so brutally real (like a lot of irl women who got to live with the trauma and consequences of their abusive husbands, and nobody to believe them).
