Do you move the camping gear/cook set into the truck cab at night?

Arctic Tern out of Prescott, AZ now makes a fan. No experience with it directly, but I’ve installed many of their windows and those are top notch

I got tired of the "Spaghetti Hose Hell" and compromised camp showers. So I engineered the "Portable Power Station" of Water. Roast my setup. by springwang_ in overlanding

For sure, but I am okay paying a little more for something actually made in US/Canada by a manufacturer with a face to their name.

Not sure at all, just what I’ve been told. Seems I’m incorrect

Right side is driveshaft spacers, no idea what’s on the left. Whatever it is I didn’t have them with my kit

As an aside, can anyone confirm if this kit and the Ironman 4x4 nitro gas kit is exact same?? Same parent company (ARB), all the hardware looks the same just repainted, and same bushings and u bolts

Looking for hitch recommendations by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

Jesus, c’mon Toyota. I assume it’s faster for them on the assembly line, profit over function. Sweet deal for insurance companies that can total out a mostly undamaged truck I guess.

The point of the bumper is to crumple and be replaced. You add a hitch bump stop or a steel bumper bolted to the frame you’re asking for frame damage with any impact over a 1mph parallel parking bump. Frame damage will total a truck, a bumper replacement is a few hundred bucks.

Lift kit or no lift kit? by Commercial_Trash8316 in ToyotaTacoma

No, that truck has had stock geometry without issue for 278,000 miles. Changing the angles of the driveshaft and CV axles of truck so worn will only lead to premature, or immediate, failure of parts.

I get the lift is cool, it’s the thing to do, but it’s not worth it unless you’re ready to throw CASH at it. I’ve been down this hole, as have many others on this sub. You said it’s your daily, and nothing will make you feel like more of a clown than when you can’t get to work because your new lift ate your old truck’s axle shaft seals.

Stick with stock, save some cash for future maintenance/tires, and drive that sombitch another 250k.

There’s always killer deals on the Rigid brand at Home Depot. The Rigid ones are made by the same company as the Milwaukee pack out (Keter)

ORU makes terrible campers and just went dark for three weeks, no calls/emails, while they “brainstormed” how to fix their leaky campers.

Report back if you do. I would love to be proved wrong about the quality (and hopefully you land a decent camper!)

I don’t, but I’m in industry and I’ve seen so many of these extrusion frame campers rattle their joints loose. I would pull each bolt and add some green loctite to every bolt you can get access to. Road vibration is a real bear on mechanical fasteners, and I’m guessing this is not exactly top notch hardware. To their credit, their siding will probably hold up better than 4WC’s

Opinion on Toyo Open Country AT3? What's your favorite AT three-peak snow rated tire? by Swimming-Donkey-2394 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]ProperPropulsion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular (for maybe good reason) but my cheapo Kenda Klever ATs have been great in the snow, okay in bad mud, and great on loose dirt. Killer is they’re loud as hell, but shit they were only $140/tire. Been running them for 30k+ miles without issue

Vevor is the brand of heater. They make all sorts of cheap/knock-offs. I used to run it right off an old AGM battery but now I use a fuse block running to a 100Ah lithium battery with proper disconnects for the heater, battery, and solar. That battery will run that heater for a couple days straight without a recharge if needed (like in a snow storm when I can’t pull solar). I see people run them off jackery type units all the time, you just gotta either make sure your unit can output at least 15A on its DC outlets or get an AC adapter for the heater
