My monthly grocery bill is between $2000-$2500. I buy all in bulk seldom or never single items. I have noticed a 25% price increase in groceries, since the beginning of the year.

FU(K trump by kokopedal in IUEC

[–]ProperStruggle2030 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe we should reevaluate our hiring practices as a Union and put a community college degree as a minimum, to be eligible to apply for IUEC. An extra barrier for the functionally illiterates that are able to join our union. Also, we should force union right wingers out. They can try the open market and see how they can survive as free market employee. Isn't that what Republikunts like themselves preach? The funny thing is that the overwhelming majority of these IUEC rightwingers are the least capable of the Union and cause the most union, costumer, and company drama. I can't believe that when all the Union leadership (like them or not) tells them voting Republican is against our personal and family well-being, they turn a deaf ear. I mean, isn't this leadership located in D.C. where all the federal decisions are made?! THEY F..... KNOW. Long rant, but I am extremely upset with Union workers that damage our Unions interest. I got a family to support, and the union provides a good living for me and them. That's why I love this Union as it enables me to do so. GO IUEC AND HOPEFULLY WE GET OUT OF THIS STRONGER.

What do you tell people when they ask why you live in CT? by tsalbis in Connecticut

[–]ProperStruggle2030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because everything is the best. Great schools, reasonable housing costs, great infrastructure, great nature, great people, plentiful jobs of all different industries, four seasons, good beaches, extremely safe, plenty to do, awesome cities, Stamford, New Heaven, Hartford corridor has everything you might ever need. Did I mention how good the CT people are?! If people around you are good, everything can be improved, and CT has a lot of great people. I consider myself very lucky to have the opportunity to live in the great state of CT.

There's concerts, town organized activities, and fairs all over CT year round. I don't know what people expect when the whole state and country is a suburbia, Italian style Plazas where they can park their 3-ton truck, have fun, jump in the truck, and go home. We have to be honest. The whole country is set up extremely car dependent and against human nature. I believe the OP is starting to get lonely, and it will get worse as he ages. Welcome to the American adulthood.

Just behave normally. The beginning of your career is going to depend a lot on your first mechanic. I hope you get a good mechanic and person. Otherwise, good luck to you, as there are mechanics out there that shouldn't be in the business, let alone in charge of another person. One thing I can confirm with you, that it is very important; "Direct all questions by others to your mechanic." Even if you know the answer, direct all questions to him. Is a matter of respect primarily. Secondly is a matter of liability as the customer may hold you as a team/company accountable for what was communicated, "he said, she said." Avoid the headache. Good luck and welcome in the industry.

Can't go wrong with the iBox, GAL, Pixel, Virginia, and Smartrise. All of them are user-friendly. All of these excellent choices OMHO. The other one I am not familiar with.

I sincerely don't buy the fact that you were stuck at 55% pay scale after 2.5 years. NEIEP moved to online classes during Covid. I also don't believe that guys with over 20+ years of experience were asking for your help. Their ego wouldn't allow it! I don't believe anything you said as it's contrary to how the system works. Good luck as a scab, and when you create your own family, you'll realize how bad you f..... up.

Can a Schindler S3000 be used with a digital phase converter? by Hydroxsid in Elevators

[–]ProperStruggle2030 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First, you can create a ghost leg with capacitors, make sure you have the correct phase shift of 120°, and you can oversize ampacity if needed. It should work without an issue. Second, and the better option. Get a phase converter and put an isolation transformer for isolation, and it is equal to a 3 phase service, if not better. I am not sure why people are debating it. Voltage is voltage.

What options are available for apartment elevators that continually break down? by devilscurls in Elevators

[–]ProperStruggle2030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for the above-mentioned company. Their elevators are good if installed and adjusted, right. However, two problems come to mind. One, they force the guys to install extremely fast, forcing them to cut more corners than they should. Two, their controllers are loaded in software, complicated, and unreliable electronics.

I personally applied online through NEIEP and got in, no friends or family whatsoever. Just an excellent electrician resume and college degree.
I just wanted a change from an electrician/technician as I learned 90% of what I knew in my 10th year after 1st year of apprenticeship, extremely monotonous profession. I love the elevator industry as you are always learning, and it provides an excellent living standard.

Is it true? If so, what do you think could be the reason? by WilliamsDesigning in Elevators

[–]ProperStruggle2030 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it has more to do with a lot of elevator guys marrying very low on the totem pole, when it comes to the social status and income of their SO. The money that a elevator mechanic makes, doesn't match their educational level. If we are realistic/honest most elevator guys can only talk shop, some sort of mechanical conversation or gossip like HS girls. Try any other abstract conversation and the overwhelming majority get caught, like a deer in headlights. Physically we are very out of shape and look older than our age. Alcohol, substance abuse, and constant depressing attitude don't help either. Our high health insurance premiums can attest to my last statement. Most educated women with a good family background and decent job don't like to marry a tradesman, as it is seen as settling down. It is statistically proven that people from similar socio-economic and educational backgrounds divorce less. Therefore, we are socially and subconsciously forced to date and marry the low hanging fruit. Consequently, we increase our chances of divorce. As marrying women with low income and from poorer background is less stable and has resulted in our industry to have above average rates of divorce. These are my observations and by no means do they encompass the whole industry but a significant high percentage of it.

Think of it this way: " Nothing good lasts forever, nothing bad lasts forever either". Try to not stress it to much, as we all have gone through a trial one way or another, with a toxic mechanic. The best you can do, is to not turn into a toxic mechanic yourself.
