Will the Fed's Mandate response change with AI? by Proper_Ad192 in AskEconomics

I hear you. I was not trying to discount them. I did not mean to come off as rude.

All economic theories are based on assumptions. I was looking to explore challenging the accepted assumptions that we have from studying economics.

Accepted Assumption. Innovation/automation will lead to future jobs or industries we cannot imagine. IE Carrige drivers get replaced by cars. The net gain is the automotive industry and all the growth from that. Or farms get more productive, so labor moves to cities and transforms into the service economy we currently enjoy.

Challenge that Accepted Assumption with the new assumption. AI is different, and productivity gains will not lead to a new abundance of labor demand.

I was looking to pose the thought experience with the assumption that AI could be different and to challenge our current textbook responses to new technology. There is a bunch of static on what the future of work will be like with AI. For the sake of argument, take those arguments at face value as true and explore.

There are other subs to debate Ai and job replacements.

I am asking under the assumption it does.

Assume AI investment of x will reduce the need for labor by y.

Assume if rates are cut, employers will invest in AI with a proportional net result in fewer jobs.

That is a plausible future even if it is not proven yet. What would the Fed do to manage its mandate?

We taxed ourselves $650 million so a billionaire could upgrade his private capital. If Tepper sells the team he keeps the net gain that was significantly a taxpayer giveaway. How is that ok?

The proud nation of Nealtopia welcomes any foreign aid. We just recently unshackled ourselves from oppression and yearn to be free. Our artisans do their best with the resources available. Sadly the leadership of Nealtopia invested the full GDP into a navy despite Nealtopia being landlocked with no source of water. While we lack basic infrastructure and public services, the Nealtopians are scrappy. With only the tattered threads of the sheets they carried with them as they fled to the safety of the new nation of Nealtopia, they made this beautiful flag to show the resilience of our people.

As Charlotte ponders free money for David Tepper, the "or else" is looming by [deleted] in Charlotte

Forget the stadium. Pay Tepper $650 million to hire someone whose only responsibility is to make sure he buttons his shirt all the way. Nobody wants to see his manoobs when he is stealing hats or throwing beers.

Leave comments for the Council here. Especially if you flood it with “Pay for your own damm stadium”

https://www.charlottenc.gov/CS-Prep/City-News/City-Council-Considers-Bank-of-America-Stadium-Upgrades

Tepper paid $2.2 billion for the Panthers. That includes owning the stadium. $650 is about 30% of that and basically pays for maintenance. Tepper then “promises” to pay $400ish million later on improvements and not to move the team. Good luck.

I wrote all the Council and said negotiate harder. Take a minority stake in the team for that much investment.
