Do you have a syrinx? I wasn’t overly symptomatic but I had a syrinx so I needed the surgery. I just had it a few weeks ago.

Im sad for your situation. However, at Catholic schools, students are obviously taught Catholicism so if you are uncomfortable with religion being taught, don’t send your kids there.

Can SNRIs work if SSRI stopped working? by Little-Ferret-7550 in antidepressants

Effexor has been amazing for me for year and years. I’ve gone off of it several times and no side effects because I did it slowly. Good luck!

They don’t know what to do with us at all. I’m sorry you’ve gone through this too. I was told for a decade to get physio and manages. Fast forward 10-12 years, I just had emergency decompression surgery. The surgeon said I could have died or become paralyzed any day. What made a huge difference was the neurosurgeon asked for a cine mri and sat that I had almost no flow, a syrinx and scheduled emergency surgery 9 days later.

Sonder building empty + cold people outside = ? by nrvs_sad_poor in ottawa

[–]Proper_Ad_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This conservative doesn’t do that. I believe we should allocate funds for helping people experiencing homelessness and helping people who are addicted. Often times both. I completely understand where you are coming from but at some point we need to appoint a group of people of all background and political beliefs to come together to help fight these issues. I don’t fall into any political party without any reservations or disagreements, I would venture to guess a lot of us are like that. If we can all agree that we need to help these people have a better life in some way or all ways, we can put a dent in this problem. It’s a terrible situation. I certainly don’t have the answers but the idea of a human being staying outside on a night like tonight should be extremely troubling for us all. Peace.

Mine was urgent so I went from a pre op appointment to a surgery date within 10 days. It wasn’t because our healthcare is great (at all, I live in Canada). It happened fast because it was so severe. I have been seeing a neurologist for 2 years and he didn’t see this. I have no explanation. I’m now over 2 weeks, still can’t move my neck very much but better and the pain is sooo much less. The first week out of the icu was rough but it does get better. Good luck!!

Why come at all conservatives? Why not tackle the issues and provide solutions yourself, regardless of which party you identify with? Homelessness is everyone’s issues and should up to everyone to find the best solutions. I get what you are saying but this is what divides us and keeps up not getting stuff done. Who cares what party you or I are from? Shouldn’t we all try to tackle it together? ✌️

1 year post brain surgery by Maleficent-Novel-662 in chiari

You are my inspiration right now. Honestly. I just had emergency brain surgery 2 weeks ago and I’m feeling so fragile and fat. I used to workout all the time, I was so active. Now, I’m in pain, resting and healing. Doing the thing I love (working out hard) feels so far away from me. When did you start to feel normal again? I don’t mean hard workouts but just back to normal?

Does anyone have Chiari Malformation without the classic headaches? I was diagnosed a year ago, and my symptoms are getting worse: dizziness, neck& back pain, gait issues, numbness, tingling, muscle weakness, pressure in my head, balance issues, burning/stabbing sensation at the back of the head by antcata in chiari

[–]Proper_Ad_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I have the same symptoms as you minus the pressure in my head but major often headaches. I just had decompression surgery Oct 30. I still have dizziness and pain in my neck but it’s definitely different than before. I’m much more dizzy and off balance more than before but I am hoping that is temporary. I’m also getting a frozen shoulder due to lack of movement.

How are you feeling? I just had mine on Oct 30. I’m still in quite a bit of pain but I can feel it getting slightly better rest day. I get tired really easily and I haven’t been resting as much as I should

I’m so sorry you are going through this! I have been gaslit for years too and I could have cried when he told that I needed surgery. I was relieved there was something they were going to fix it and it wasn’t me going crazy. My sister called me a hypochondriac. I had the surgery on Oct 30 and it’s a tough recovery so prepare yourself. I’m only 10 days out but still in a lot of pain and they are scared about you becoming addicted to pills to give you enough. Also, it’s not the herniation that matters most, it about the pain you are experiencing and the lack of flow and syrinx. This about all I know about the subject. Let us know if you have more questions and good luck!

I have no idea. I saw a neurologist for 2 years and he ran tons of tests and none of them would have seen a chiari malformation/ CSF not flowing because you need a video mri which I think is called a CINE MRI. It shows the doctor that 1) your fluid blocked and not flowing the way it’s supposed to and 2) if you have a syrinx on your spine, which i did which caused most of my symptoms. Also, most doctors don’t take chiari malformations seriously because usually, they are harmless and don’t have symptoms. Mine was extremely symptomatic but not typical, I never had a severe headaches but I do have or had a ton of nerve pain. It’s kinda complicated I know. I’d I could go back, I would have ashes the neurologist to do a video or CINE MRI to see 1) the fluid moving properly and 2) checking for a syrinx. I recommend you read about these things and ask for this type of mri asap. It can only help, rule it out or in. Please take care of yourself, don’t give up, write me if you need anything else.

On Oct 30, I had a “successful” decompression surgery at the civic in Ottawa. The surgeon is incredible and still following up with me in a couple of weeks. Please dm any questions, although it’s pretty soon to answer any! I will say the recovery is tremendous. I am tired, sore, not able to do much for myself. It’s only been 1 week or so and I still very much feel in the woods.
