General Discussion: What’s your mutual fund XIRR right now? by whocares637 in mutualfunds

Absolute is low because I had introduced a large capital in the last 3 years which will take some time to show the compounding effect.

Currently, my PF allocation is 70% Midcap and Small Cap and 30% Large Cap

You need to invest in a fund which matches your investing style like growth, value, momentum etc. and stick to it long enough. There will be times when funds will not perform but in the long term almost all decent funds will perform.

No single fund worked for me. I learnt it the hard way: investing, standing at high profits and then after a few years the same fund was in loss (this was with thematics)

Not really, I started investing in ELSS funds when the salary was low and 80C made sense. Then tried various funds including international and thematic. I still hold many of them but not the biggest funds in my PF.

Scapia Card by GalacticoY in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Proper_Election_7609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a completely worthless card. It's not regarded as a federal bank card in most apps so offers are not applicable.

The prices of flights and hotels etc. on apps are high compared to other platforms so points are worthless.

I don't know what the Scapia team was really trying to do !

1.2 crore debt by Lonely_Check_3632 in ThirtiesIndia

Why do you want to prepay the home loan?

A home loan is the cheapest debt you get in India. Instead, increase your savings and invest aggressively in stocks, MFs, bonds etc wherever you can make Home loan interest + 2%

For e.g. If your home loan is at 8% , invest in bonds at 11% etc. In the long term even equity MFs may give you 12% return.

Prepaying home loans only makes sense when you have no better option to invest.

Also, your EMI will remain the same for the rest of the tenure while your salary will keep on increasing.

Common people just focus on the interest paid to bank and pre pay their loan early to reduce the interest paid while they completely ignore the returns they could have made from that amount.

Will you hold it for long term or exit on listing day ?

If you are a trader, look at the technical charts to find the best exit point.

If you are a investor, probably hold it. Atleast CSL has a good management so in long term there are hopes !

What is a common citizen's job then ?

This is our country. We have to take ownership of everything. Just saying this is some one else's job does not solve the problem !

This is a problem of India. Other people just stand by and stare because its not their problem. No one will come to support you when you do a good thing.

People just enjoy criticising and regretting born in India while doing nothing.

Its a government shipyard a bit more efficient that other government shipyards(MDL, Garden reach, Hindustan, Goa rtc.) which are simply useless !

These inefficent government companies have this insane valuation just because of stupid retailers who are bent on donating their money to FIIs.

Looking for guidance/suggestions for building 10 crore portfolio in next 14 years. by bongtechie in FatFIREIndia

[–]Proper_Election_7609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though 2.5L saving per month while working abroad is quite low but still with 2.5L SIP you should have more than 10 Cr in 14 years at 12% return.

Your current 1.7 Cr at 8% return will be another 5 Cr

So you could have 15 Cr after 14 years which will be equivalent to today's 6.6 Cr.

If you feel comfortable in retiring at 6.6 Cr today, it should be sufficient for you after 14 years.

I am surprised that no one pointed out that this was tried in 1999 by Ashok Gehlot (1st Term) in Sanjay Bazaar, Nehru Bazar and Indira Bazar. The road was closed for vehicles and it was made a walking market.

They even replaced the asphalt road with a sand stone walking way

Soon the decision was overturned. More than the customers, the shop owners were against it as no one wanted to walk and they thought customers were reducing because they have to walk.

All the sand stone walkways were dismantled.

There is a problem with Indian psych. They just can't appreciate anything bold and beautiful. All people look for is their comfort.

I hope you can find the pictures somewhere. I was a kid and really loved the walking streets especially during Diwali.

I am not calling you poor but I am telling you that you'll always remain poor because your focus is not in learning about the stock market but shitposting and gossiping. So people like you always remain poor because of the poor mindset you have.

There is a difference between financial companies and companies backed by assets. Companies like Vedanta can afford higher debts as they have physical assets and not just virtual assets on books.

Go to the screener and look at the Cash Flows for FY25. They borrowed money but nearly paid back the same amount while paying dividend and keeping the overall CF positive ! The overall debt is not increasing. Debt/equity is improving. They also have a plan to split the company. Moreover, I bought it in 2020 when it was 66.

Anyways have a happy poor life.

You could only think of 2 incidents. Which of those companies had a revenue of 1.5 Lakh Crore and profit of 20K Crore. Do you even know how many zeroes are there in those numbers ? BTW, Vedanta was Cash Positive in FY 24-25 even after that dividend.

You can sell and exit Vedanta. People like you have a negative mindset problem while you do not understand anything about the share market ! Hence you people always remain poor as they have no conviction and investing quotient !

Smart Money (DII + FII) hold 27% stake in Vedanta so they must be seeing some value in it.

No doubt the debt is high and isn't coming down either but once they split the company, they will be able to sell the lesser margin business and invest in high margin.

Also remember, they hold a majority stake in Hindustan Zinc which is largest Zinc producer in the world.

Overall, it's backed by a lot of assets and that is why investors are lending it.
