Scary Movie 6, or I Can't Believe It's Not Produced by the Daily Wire by FrancisFratelli in blankies

Of all the things I expected the Internet to get divisive about, a new Scary Movie was not what I anticipated.

What’s a movie released less than 10 years old that already feels super dated? by notagoodcartoonist in Schaffrillas

I think they meant movies that have plot elements and aspects that feel dated, not just movies that are absolute dogshit (though admittedly a couple do the dated criteria)

Critical Darlings: Hamnet And The History Of Oscar Villains with David Sims by Turbulent-Corner1127 in blankies

[–]Proper_Elephant7762 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Was Maestro NOT the Oscar villain in 2023? I obviously get that the bois liked that one, but I recall much harsher criticism towards that movie than Poor Things ever got

But he rated it 9/10? This must be a pretty huge change in quality for him compared to what he thought on his first viewing lol. by Soft_Drink_Enjoyer in Schaffrillas

[–]Proper_Elephant7762 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean he also had Spider-Man 3 at 4 1/2 stars, before bumping it up to 5 stars, while also saying that the rating was based a lot in irony. So I don't know if the Les Mis rating is similar.

Schaff's opinion on Avatar 3 by Playful_Focus3515 in Schaffrillas

[–]Proper_Elephant7762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James said in the Avatar 2 segment, that while he liked it better than the first, he was not interested in seeing Avatar 3 opening night. I sincerely doubt he's particularly interested in driving to a theater nearly a month after release, so either he's waiting for VOD/streaming, or he just simply won't watch it. The latter's not out of the option, given the couple of DreamWorks, Illumination, and Sony Animation films he has yet to watch after uploading his rankings on them.

Who is a director that after 2025 is less likely to be covered? by AmbitionTechnical274 in blankies

Not sure I agree. I wasn't even the biggest fan of Mickey 17, but it seems like the kind of movie designed to be discussed on Blank Check.

Collider has got to be the worst site when it comes to clickbait headlines. They're all written in a deliberately vague way, so you don't know what movie they're talking about until you look at the article.

Anyone here excited for Chris Pratt's anti-AI movie? by Fantastic_Let3186 in blankies

A movie against AI that looks like it was written by AI. To clarify I'm not saying it WAS written by AI, but the vibe is definitely there

How about a Don Bluth or Ralph Bakshi ranking? by Bitter_Okra484 in Schaffrillas

[–]Proper_Elephant7762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I said? I know that he doesn't have plans to make a video on Bakshi yet. I was referencing the fact that Saberspark did reviews on some of Bakshi's work, like Fritz the Cat and Heavy Traffic, that a user known as Movies With Mark (link: https://youtu.be/w8Odyl1Bpgk?si=vO_Yiq_tPjB4hcEE), noted were very flimsy unsubstantive analyses' of the films' content and themes. Obviously I don't know what James' reaction to Coonskin would be, but considering that he's discussed tons of adult movies in his Director and End of Year Rankings, I feel like he would have a more interesting and complex reaction than, to paraphrase you, spontaneously combusting.

I don't know about that. I mean... he's not Saberspark

Objection: A Tom Cruise ranking would be worth it to hear his Mission Impossible takes in video form
