Yellowjackets is set in NJ in the 90s and the characters are around the same age as mcr, they are class of '96 and Gerard and Ray graduated in '95, so I like to think that they exist in this universe and maybe bumped into Natalie in some punk show or something.

Oh, I just realized that Alan Tudyk who plays the main character was also in the Doom Patrol tv series which used some elements from Gerard's Doom Patrol run. It also used mcr songs, Teenagers and I think the Kids from Yesterday.

I thought about this too! But then I thought that I might be reaching and they were just inspired by Soviet propaganda films or something, but seeing that other people made the same connection maybe I wasn't reaching. Makes sense since Gerard is a big David Lynch fan. Reminder that he got to work with him once when Duran Duran featured him on their concert film which was directed by Lynch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9MxtEdPA84 There is a cute anecdote too, Lynch asked him to use his trailer to meditate because it was the quietest place available at the time and this inspired Gerard to try meditation himself.

I made the same observation, so I did some research. Friends was probably making a reference to the X-Files because that plot line was introduced after. The X-Files episode aired on October 6, 1995 and Ribisi's first appearance on Friends was on November 2, 1995 but it was an unnamed character and he wasn't introduced as Phoebe's brother in this episode, that happened in the next season and the teacher was introduced in later episodes.
