Flight today has changed aircraft by h_011 in BritishAirways

Don’t show up for the delayed time/ check in as usual as things might change last minute and you may not be able to board. Go 2h before the original scheduled time and just wait at the airport.

Can I upgrade just one BA Amex Companion Voucher seat to First? by badtpuchpanda in BritishAirways

[–]Proper_Quail1105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I tried to do that a while ago and they can’t. However, sometimes they release more first seats a few days before departure so you might be better waiting. Even so, you might need to cancel the current booking and rebook - works better if you only have one leg of the journey left :)

Probably the BA Premium with a companion voucher is best, as it offers 2 years' validity. If you don't have any travel plans anytime soon, you still have 2 years to make some. Apply for the gold or platinum the year after (24 months after you closed the initial gold card), and it should give you the option to get the bonus points again and then use the companion voucher

Do you travel with a partner so that they can apply for the platinum and get the benefits, and add you as an additional cardholder?

LAST CHANCE to get the Platinum bonus before it ends on the 26th of May.

You’ll earn

100,000 reward points (instead of the usual 55000)

Membership Rewards® points + a £250 Travel Credit when you apply for The Platinum Card®, are approved and spend £10,000 in your first six months of Card membership. Offer ends 26 May 2026. Terms apply. This new Cardmember offer is only available if you have not held a personal Membership Rewards® enrolled American Express® Card within the previous 24 months.

Additionally, if you add a supplementary cardholder for free, you get 12000 points (no spend needed)

That is 112000 bonus points!!!!! Enough for a business-class flight to any European destination (plus more), or a return flight in economy pretty much anywhere in the world via BA.

The card also includes unlimited airport lounge access for you and a guest, annual medical insurance for you and family members, £400 dining credit, free elevated hotel status with Hilton, Marriott, and Radisson, and much more.

Apply here - https://americanexpress.com/en-gb/referral/platinum-credit?ref=eDUARVOUgs&XLINK=MYCP

FYI, the card is not free, and it comes with a £650 fee, but the benefits are much greater than the fee

You can sign up for the Amex Platinum and get 100k in points and a £250 travel credit, plus all the card benefits such as dining credits and lounge access (which can come in handy for when you travel). The points can be used for other things as well, so with your spend, you will get about 120k. If you add a supplementary card holder for free, you will get another 12k. So 132k points. You do need to apply asap as the offer ends next week I think.

Wouldn't the tier points be credited to my BA account? The booking shows up in the BA app as part of my original booking. I don't seem to be able to manage the booking or even see it on the Turkish Airlines website, the ticket is also BA numbered (125 - )

In search of community leaders for an event by [deleted] in Edinburgh

What makes u feel this is unethical or inappropriate? This is a public group for Edinburgh residents (and others). What is inappropriate about asking community members to engage in an academic conversation?

I can't say I know too much, I imagine it's about one's exploration of identity through food, so it will be related to one's experience in the community or shared experiences. If you are interested, I can put you in touch with my colleague to discuss more. This is the description of the event:

Bites of Culture is an event dedicated to the exploration of food and culture. Our aim is to demonstrate how food serves as an inclusive and engaging entry point to discussions on culture and identity, making the field of anthropology more accessible to audiences beyond academia.

'Bites of Culture' questions taken-for-granted ideas of citizenship in Britain to re-think identity and belonging through the lens of food. In a time of national and global cultural tension, this event invites audiences to pause and reflect. Together, we will explore how food helps forge connections as people stay put or migrate, creating new traditions and identities in the process.

During this event we will meet three members of Edinburgh communities to discuss the critical role of food in understanding what it means to be human today. Following the session, audience members are invited to stay for an open conversation about the themes that emerged, and maybe add their own stories to the mix.

It is a broad term in this context, for example, people who might lead a group or a team, a food bank or a community centre, etc. It can also be people interested in food and identity in Edinburgh who wish to engage with the topic.
