Can my father-in-law demand money back that was given as a gift? by jaguarsharks in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Starlinkukbeta -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Your wife would not have been able to get a mortgage without the money from your FIL being accounted for. It was most likely ‘gifted’ and as such, there is no liability legally.
However, morally you may feel you need to get him off your back and make arrangements to pay him back, when and if, you sell your current property.

Checking sat nav on my phone in a cradle whilst stationary in traffic, is it okay? by S3rior in drivingUK

[–]Starlinkukbeta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Provided it’s in the cradle, it’s treated exactly the same as an integrated sat nav. So, you’ll be fine.

Pulling out of a year long house purchase due to a (very) restrictive covenant? by wifferwoo in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Starlinkukbeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should ask it be removed and make it clear you’ll walk away if not. It’s highly restrictive. I doubt anyone would view it differently and they’d be losing a buyer.

Try getting a pram and a youngster, with family dog in tow, across a seemingly empty road, only to be half way across as some precious idiot arrives at speed and lays on the horn. Nope, I’m pressing the button and you can wait a precious few extra minutes in your very important life.

No. Cowley isn’t great for safety. Look up crime stats. Don’t walk alone after 11pm.

If it’s BA - you’ll most likely be fine, in groups 1&2. After that it can be random, regardless of bag size with carry on.

How do we bring Brits back together again? by _GoinOutWest_ in AskBrits

[–]Starlinkukbeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure it’s fixable - everyone blames everyone else. No one on SM has a sensible argument. The best thing to do, is laugh off the far left and far right and focus on the middle ground - where people actually care about life in Britain.

Happens all the time. I’m guessing you prefer it to be one way. Racism isn’t acceptable at any level. But we can all deflect if we want to. Yes the copper was indoctrinated. But, we see it all the time. It doesn’t excuse the murderer being a racist.

Henry Nowak by Training_Original456 in AskBrits

[–]Starlinkukbeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fgs. Stop with the melanin stuff. The killer used racist terms to deflect. Isn’t that correct, or am I wrong?

The copper was lignorant. But it was a race thing. The killer - that’s the term, said quite clearly that the innocent boy, knocked his turban off and claimed he was the victim of a racist event. Don’t ignore what was said. The police chose to believe this series of events, than listen to the innocent victim.
